Dear Parents,
It seems that summer has slowly, but surely begun its approach!
With cool mornings and warmer days we have seen rainy patches quickly change into sunny afternoons and we have seized every moment to be outside, as much as possible. Flowers are blooming both at the garden beds near the entrance and where the train parks on the north end of campus. The tomato seedlings we planted in spring have begun spurting upwards and the first tiny plants with fresh green peas have popped up out of the soil in our main garden area on the south end. Tiny tadpoles are growing bigger and so are we, our students & families. Many Newton families have begun registering siblings for the coming school year and we have currently completed enrolments for the new Pre-nursery & Nursery classes, which began with general entrance interviews on the Saturdays of April 2nd and 23rd, in total we had more than 300 families apply for a limited opening of 70 placements. Currently we have but just a few placements left for the foreign classes and kindly advise foreign parents with siblings to secure placements ASAP.
Last week we finished the Open classes, where moms and dads were invited-in to take part in a relatively normal day, as they joined morning exercises, activity time and play time. A lot of art projects involving ladybirds, colors and shapes. Creative story-telling of the 3 little pigs and the "fearsome hairdryer", science experiments with cloud's in mason jars and working together, by building the strongest structures possible out of paper and seeing how many bricks/boards they can carry. From the parents I spoke with afterwards, I heard it was a lot of fun! From listening to the children excitingly proclaiming "my mom is coming today" it was another great time to connect home & school!
In relation to home & school, the preparations for June 1st Children's Day is well under way and several parent groups have begun arranging practice schedules in our theater, gym, football area and CMC rooms. Simply ask your class' teachers to help arrange in advance so they can book rooms and approve entrance with the campus security in advance.
Update to calendar: Due to the sheer size of our parent group and the limited seats at the SIPYCC theater, this year we will host 2 summer concerts, one for domestic classes on June 23rd and another for foreign classes on June 24th.
The 2016/2017 school year calendar is currently available on our website www.internewton.com/hxj
I would like to remind everyone that the school year will end on Friday, July 15th. In order to qualify for deposit refunds, the withdrawal deadline is 60 days before the last day of attendance, which means families who are leaving us must acquire a withdrawal form, fill it out and return before May 15th (2-3 weeks later) in order to get the deposit refund.
Finally, I wish everyone an amazing May Labor Day holiday from/to/incl. April 30th - May 2nd. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, May 3rd. Have fun! Don't work! Enjoy!
