Dear parents,
Thank you! for three wonderful days of sports & games last week!. We were lucky that the weather played along and that so many families participated in the activities at campus! It was rewarding seeing children receive their medals and carrying them with pride and honor! They truly are Champions of the World!
October has been a busy and eventful month, with our Safety/Evacuation drills held successfully, completing a full evacuation in about 6 minutes and 30 seconds. We taught children that an evacuation is, unlike sports events, not a competition of being the first or fastest, but about controlling yourself, walking brisk, being observant and following your teachers without lagging behind or running ahead. Everyone did great!
On October 29th, teachers and staff of Hui Xin received annual training in safety/evacuation procedures from the government fire/emergency department.
Further, on October 15th senior English teacher Mr. Nick Johnstone shared his experience in using "Total Physical Response" techniques in the class-room with our group of English teachers. For children of all ages, it can be a challenge to learn new languages, especially ones different from the one our parents speak at home. The "TPR" method, uses the body as a visual language cue and gets all students actively involved while helping the child's positive language development via. physical recognition and emotional encouragement.
The upcoming month of November, contains one small, non mandatory Christmas decorating event, where the class' will receive their Christmas trees, decorate them and hang garlands in the classes. If some parents would like to contribute decorations or come in and help, please coordinate directly with your teachers.
This year's Christmas celebrations will not take place in a big hotel, but will be held at campus in smaller groups. Less of a show and more of a warm, good, cozy time together with the class and the big jolly man, known as Santa Clause. Notice of the arrangements will follow in the coming weeks.
Please be reminded that November 27th is the last day to submit end of semester withdrawal forms, while still qualifying for deposit refund (following the school's 60 day notification policy). Ms. Cindy from admissions have sent a reminder in the communication books as well.
Lastly, the Autumn fieldtrips will take place tomorrow October 28th, PN & N will to Wuxi Zoo and K1 & K2 to Changzhou theme park. I hope the weather will be on our side and give us one more day of summer!.
Please find practical information below:
- Christmas decorating on November 27th (voluntary participation, talk with your class' teachers)
- November 27th is also the deadline for end of semester withdrawals who qualify for deposit refunds (60 days notification policy).
