Dear Parents,
I am pleased to inform you that today’s fire/emergency evacuation drill was successful. As scheduled at 10:26 the fire-alarm went off and the management announcement over the PA system about evacuation protocols were given.
Children had practiced how to line up, cover their mouths and walk orderly down their designated staircases to their individually appointed assembly areas on the south end of the kindergarten, where they would sit down and await management inspection… and they did very well indeed J good job kids!
The entire school from top to bottom was evacuated in just 4 and a half minutes.
Firstly the doorman and guard unlocked the “glass door” at the entrance and opened the main gate for the fire-department. At the children’s emergency assembly area first responder was the school nurse, second school management.
Once the classes were assembled management checked teachers records, attendance lists, counted children and double checked parent phone lists to ensure in the event of a real emergency teachers could proceed to the 2
nd stage of an evacuation, which would be to leave the kindergarten through the west gate and inform parents about the emergency via. phone lists.
Please be advised that this was a “scheduled emergency drill” and that next week, Tuesday, October 28
th will have a “non scheduled emergency drill” where teachers and students will
not be informed of the actual time the alarm will sound.
EXTRA REMINDER: On an unrelated note, I would like to inform parents in possession of our previous issued semester calendar from August that the “Sports Day – According to Class Arrangement” initially scheduled for this coming Friday, October 24
th will be postponed to a later time, where we can better facilitate a more traditional sports day with parents invited… you will be informed in writing once the new date has been settled.
I wish all of you a wonderful evening and kindly advice you to take the opportunity to talk with your child about today’s emergency evacuation drill and their experience. Please inform your class-teacher about any emotional discomfort your child might have experienced.
School nurse rushes to be the 1st at the emergency assembly point.
Students from K1 307 follow teacher Emily to their designated evacuation area.
Nursery students assemble together with Ms. Katie
Full evacuation in 4 and a half minutes.
Sincerely,
Anders S Christensen
