History: Children's Day is recognized on various days in many places around the world. However, it's origin can be traced back to 1856 where Dr. Charles Leonard of Chelsea, Massachusetts held a special service for children. In 1929 Turkey became the first nation to officially declare a national holiday named "Children's Day" on April 23rd. At the Woman's International Democratic congress in Moscow on November 4th, 1949 the "Children's Day" was set on June 1st with commencement from 1950 and is formally known as "The International Day for Protection of Children". It is a day that celebrate Children's rights and well-being, usually through free-of-charge events, festivals, theater-plays etc.
