Dear parents,
As many of you might have noticed from the blue signs, the SIP traffic bureau is implementing new rules for parking on Qi Xin St. the small inner ring road of the Hui Xin (Hudong) neighborhood. The new rules will take effect from Friday, September 1st and is meant to free-up short term parking spaces. Families from nearby residential areas used to park their cars long term, for free, inside the Hui Xin (Hudong) neighborhood which the traffic bureau aim to prevent.
All parking within the Neighborhood will be limited to short term parking of 2 hours or less. As Newton only allow parking for 5-10 minutes outside of our campus it should not be a problem for most parents and might even be a factor in improving the traffic congestion at drop-off and pick-up, let's see.
Be advised that on future days with events stretching more than 2 hours, if you park inside the Hui Xin neighborhood there will be a small charge by the parking guards.
1) for parking of more than 2 hours, in the period 7:00 - 20:00 a 2 rmb parking fee will be charged per 30 minutes by the SIP parking guards.
2) there will be no traffic booms, however a sensor on the ground will register how long a car has been parked, if more than 2 hours a parking guard will receive a notification, take photo ID and claim parking fee.
We are curious to see if this initiative by the SIP traffic bureau will have the positive impact they promise.
We certainly hope so, but will keep you updated in case of any new procedures being implemented.
Sincerely,
Ms. Tina Zhang
