Dear parents,
Starting from November 1st, parents or grandparents who do not bring an entrance ID card when bringing and picking up students will not be allowed entrance. As explained in previous notices and encouraged by the on-duty management at the gate, including myself. The rate of repeat parents, who do not bring entrance ID cards to swipe when entering campus is staggering at more than 20+ families daily. We have individual parents who "forget" their ID card 17 times in one month and use what was meant to be a one-off approval, to enter as a daily option! Even after being reminded by management and guards! It is quite frankly offensive and absurd that some individuals do not respect the guards, the management, the campus, the children and our safety protocols enough!
Due to the misuse of select parents repeatedly not bringing ID cards for campus entrance, we will cancel the "entrance without ID card" option completely and nobody will be let into campus without ID cards or a scheduled appointment, with a special rule for pick-up in the afternoon.
If you arrive at the campus at drop off in the morning 8:00-9:00 and do not bring entrance ID card, you and your child cannot enter campus. Teachers who are engaged in morning exercise, breakfast routine, care and educational activities will not be troubled to fetch children from the gate. No entrance means no services on the day.
If you arrive at anytime between 15:20-16:00 to pick up your child without an ID card in the future, you will be asked to wait outside the main gate until after 16:00 where teachers will bring children to the gate to see you. It is not possible for our teachers to bring children to the gate earlier, as they are supervising safety in the class-room and on the playground. We hope the wait will be enough encouragement for certain parents to bring ID cards in the future.
If teachers recognize repeat parents who do not bring ID cards for pick-up, a meeting will be scheduled between the parents, the security guard and campus management to sign responsibility agreement.
I feel embarrassed that it is necessary to cancel the one-off entrance without ID card permission, which was meant to help those first timers who genuinely forgot their card, but I feel even more disappointed in a few parents who do not follow our basic entrance requirement. The ID card is important because sometimes we get new guards, who do not know or recognize any parents or students or we get new students/families who the senior guards have not had a chance to get to know yet. Which is why the ID card is a necessary 1st step for anyone gaining entrance to the campus. Once inside, teachers will be the 2nd step before hand-over of children is approved. The continued disregard has meant that we have no option than to stop guards from allowing "entrance without ID card" to parents.
I feel sorry for any inconvenience caused to families who forget their cards for the first time. However, the solution, as always, is very simple and I kindly ask families to prepare in order to avoid any discomfort:
1) Keep your card in your wallet, in your phone-cover or with your car-keys as not to forget.
2) If you think 2 entrance ID cards are not enough, then apply through your teacher to get more entrance ID cards (please take good care of all your cards. If you lose a card, report immediately to your teacher).
I have asked all teachers to confirm with parents face-to-face about the new rule.
Sincerely,
Anders S Christensen, Ms. Marie Qian & Campus Security
