On January 25th and 26th the campus was closed due to snowfall and by request of the educational and traffic bureau.
Being from Denmark, I am used to cold weather and snow, but it is an extra treat to be able to enjoy it at my place of work here in Suzhou and while sincerely I regret not being able to invite children to explore the magical white wonderland with their friends at school, I wish to share a few photos from the Hui Xin Winter Wonderland on the right of this page.
Further, I was in Suzhou during the snow of 2008 and that year the snow caused a lot of damage to roads, trees and buildings. This time I am thoroughly impressed by the city's preparedness. From early morning, snow clearing vehicles and orange service cars were everywhere on the streets and personnel in green coats with orange vests were shaking the snow off trees to prevent branches from breaking off and falling uncontrolled on the roads, causing incidents.
The current weather forecast does not promise snow, but a biting chill of temperatures below freezing will stay with us for another week.
I wish everyone a safe, warm and soft snow weekend.
Sincerely,
Anders S C
