On Friday, March 30th K1-109 at Hui Xin campus received Easter letters from our friendship school in Denmark via. our friend teacher from abroad Ms. Mette S, Newton's overseas cultural relations ambassador of China/Danish relations.
Children from several classes in Denmark had prepared beautifull crafted folded cards, cut-out in symmetrical patterns with riddles written on them. Children had tried to write in a variety of languages including English, Korean, Chinese and Danish and it was great fun for our K1-109 kids together with Mr. Paul and Ms. Lily to look at the world globe and know that these letters were sent from children far away!
A Danish custom at Easter is to pick winter flowers known as "Snow/Winter Bells" and put them in a book press to include with a beautifully cut letter with fun riddles, such as... "My name starts with S, like a Shooting Star, be careful when you See my Spirit fingers Sparkle!".
Children were so excited and asked "When can we go to see our friends?". Eventhough it is far away, we do not have to wait long as we regularly exchange cultural letters and in return our students made Easter Egg art and recorded a video where they thanked their friends in Denmark.
Happy Easter around the world!
Sincerely,
Mr. Paul & Ms. Lily
