Dear parents,
Spring has arrived and our school is full of life, we have observed life in bloom, flowers and trees blossoming and birds chirping. The season fills us with energy and spirit. On campus, both our white and pink blossomed Cherry/Peach trees and flowers at the entrance grace us with their beauty. The past 2 days I have seen parents appreciating the flowers and trees on campus and today a mother showed me a beautiful picture she had taken of our Cherry Blossom Tree. I suspect there may be many more beautiful photos to share out there.
Therefore, I would like to invite parents with a keen photographic eye to share their most beautiful photo of the trees, blossoms and flowers around our campus for a chance to win 3 English Language Story Books. It is a friendly competition and if you wish to join, simply submit 1 or 2 photos maximum to your teacher or directly on anders@internewton.com before Monday, April 2nd. Make sure you put your name on the photo so we know it is from you. For respect of privacy and to go with our campus rule about not taking photos of other children than your own child, the photos should be of flowers and trees only. The winner will be decided by Mr. Milos who is a skilled amateur photographer together with school management and announced on April 4th.
On March 14th campus nurse and nutritionist Ms. Anna invited parents and grandparents to join a presentation by "The May Farm". This is a business with a specialty in organic and seasonal produce under the philosophy of "Good body health and an environmental-friendly lifestyle". Parents got to know what it means to be organic, how to grow organic vegetables, what the benefits are, and tried lettuce, cucumber and carrot juice. From the month of March, select seasonal organic greens are being procured from the "May Farm" as part of our commitment to quality food and ECO awareness at Hui Xin.
Last week on an amazing, warm and sunny spring Friday we rounded-off our two weeks "Festival of Colors" theme. With 142 events in just 10 days, every day had been a celebration of cultures, customs, knowledge, friendship and the act of sharing a part of who we are with others, it was an amazing "Festival of Colors" and I wish to thank all parents for their strong support and teamwork with teachers.
Throughout the festival children were exposed to a world of new knowledge, from Japanese origami, Polish folk art, Dutch windmills, Malaysia's Sabah, Swedish midsummer celebrations, an Eskimo's life to the beautiful flowers of Hainan island and not to forget the always popular Italian pizza, French crepes and Suzhou snacks to mention just a few. It can be a challenge, for teachers and parents alike to command the attention of 20 children in an activity, but through your wonderfully creative presentations with lots of hands-on and musical elements you succeeded to create a memory for your class and in particular your child who will always remember that his/her mom or dad once was the teacher in class. You all have my most sincere respect and appreciation!
Last week invitations for Open Class were sent out in the communication books. The Open Class is a non-mandatory event where parents are invited in to join a normal day at school. I hope that parents will not just be observers, but will join in the fun activities as well.
Further, Ms. Cindy Jin from admissions sent a notice to provide us with emails as we will begin distributing monthly newsletters and urgent notices from school by email. Eventually, printed letters from the school will be phased out, unless signature and approvals in writing are required, where families will still be provided a print-out copy. The return deadline for the email confirmations are tomorrow, March 28th.
