On September 10th, 2018 we celebrate teachers day and wish to thank our amazing teachers, not just at Hui Xin campus, but every teacher from around the world for their tremendous effort and care in helping children to realize their full potential.
Being a teacher, can be hard work but is always very rewarding. To see children transform and grow, to watch them make friends and discover the magical world, is a reward in itself. Do you ever remember how amazing a raindrop, a snowflake, a butterfly and a puppy was as a child? How amazing it still is!
This constant feeling of discovery and appreciation of nature drives children and teachers alike, as a team.
Sometimes, as parents ourselves, we want to thank teachers for their work and what better time to do this than on teachers day? Honestly, from many years of experience I have seen how something good to begin with can become counterproductive, to a point where parents worry if not giving teachers anything on teachers day will mean less care for their child. Many teachers even begin measuring "being a good teacher" by the amount of gifts they get, which always leaves some excellent teachers, assistants or caregivers who didn't receive any, feeling a little put off by the whole "teachers day culture".
From the school's side we adopted a "no gifts on teachers day (any day really)" policy a few years back, all teachers sign it and agree with it upon employment at Newton kindergartens. In the policy, it states that teachers must return gifts, which carry a financial value (no gift cards, no neckties, no scarves, no dinner vouchers etc.).
Showing appreciation and love to our teachers is encouraged, but as something you would do on a normal day of the week. In the form of writing a card, making a drawing/artwork with your child or simply writing a thank you note in the communication book.
We appreciate your teamwork and hope you understand our "no gifts policy" and look forward to an amazing year with you, the teachers and all of our children.
Sincerely,
Anders S Christensen
