With the sound of firecrackers we say farewell to the year of the Rat (2020) and say hello to the year of the Ox (2021) with joy. Students at kindergarten had fun making traditional Spring Festival snacks for the Dumpling Festival.“"Jiaozi" means dumplings in Chinese and is enjoyed throughout China as it implies good luck, farewell to the old and welcome to the new. 爆竹声中辞旧岁，欢乐声中迎新年。本周迎来了Newton的传统新春活动—“饺子节”。“饺子”谐音”交子”，寓意吉祥如意、辞旧迎新；好吃不过饺子，温暖不过集体，和小伙伴一起包饺子、吃饺子的快乐时光里，记录下特别的新年味道。
On the day, children were invited to wear traditional Chinese clothes to school and teachers also put on festive new year clothes to welcome students at the gate, on this last day before the Spring Festival holiday. From the very beginning of this wonderful day, students and teachers alike were emerged in the traditional culture and festive atmosphere at school. 清晨，孩子们穿上精心准备的中国传统服饰喜气洋洋的来上学，老师们也穿上新年服饰在门口热情接待每位孩子，大家沉浸在浓厚的新年文化氛围中，感受着中国新年的习俗，带着温暖、带着年味，开启美好的一天。
The dumpling making activity that everyone has been
looking forward to begins with our K2 children working together. Some knead the
dough and others roll the dumpling skin. Under the guidance and assistance of
teachers, our students focused on rolling the skin and making dumplings. 小朋友们期待的包饺子活动开始啦！大班的孩子们分工合作，你来揉面团，我来擀饺皮，在老师的指导和协助下，孩子们专注的擀着皮、包着饺子。
N&K1 children learned how to make dumplings with teachers, carefully putting the stuffing in the dumplings, gently twisting the dumpling skin to a close and then resting it on their palm for a final inspection. The children surely enjoyed making small dumplings by themselves. 小、中班的孩子们一个个专心致志地跟着老师学包饺子，仔细放馅，轻轻捻饺子皮，包完放在手心上欣赏着、讨论着，小小的饺子蕴含着孩子们的专注用心和无限温情。
Although Pre-Nursery children are still too young to fold
traditional dumplings, they did not hold back when kneading and rolling the
glutinous balls instead. The colorful balls almost looks like a handful of
marbles and we must be careful, treat them gently and share with our parents at
home. 托班的宝贝们虽然年龄小，但也不甘落后，伴随着喜庆的新年歌曲，兴奋地搓起了五彩小汤圆，捏一捏、揉一揉、搓一搓，一个个彩色小汤圆在小朋友们手上跳跃着。孩子们把自己制作的小汤圆整齐的装好，他们要带回家和爸爸妈妈分享自己的劳动成果。
Children did not only make real dumplings themselves, but they also made dumplings in their art activities. When it was time for lunch and the delicious cooked dumplings appeared, children would guess which one was made by who and they were truly proud of themselves for having contributed making a very delicious lunch together. Working together, spending time with our loved ones and enjoying a meal together is truly the spirit of the Spring Festival.
各种各样的饺子体验不只是体现在孩子们动手“包”的过程，我们还通过美工活动制作出形式各样的饺子。当孩子们的劳动成果呈现在眼前的时候，当看到热腾腾的，形状各异的饺子呈现在盘子里的时候，孩子们的讨论声此起彼伏，“这个应该是我包的”“你看，我包的真好看”“哇，真好吃啊”，孩子们的话语中充满了自豪与成就感。大家品尝着自己包的饺子，感受着中国新年的氛围和温情。
The joyous beginning of the Spring Festival permeated and
spread to the corners of every room and the fragrance of delicious steamed
dumplings filled the whole kindergarten. The taste of dumplings is the taste of
a new year and our students at Newton welcomed it with smiles and laughter. The
old year ends with both warmth and gratitude and the new year starts full of
hope and possibilities!

season!
欢乐的气氛洋溢在教室的每个角落，饺子的香味飘满了整个幼儿园。饺子的味道是年的味道，Newton的年味洋溢在孩子们灿烂的笑容里、清脆的笑声中。
