It has been a long time waiting for our children to finally come back to Newton campus and see their beloved teachers. The campus regained its liveliness and happy environment thanks to the smiles and laughter of the Newton children.
Although the epidemic situation has been well controlled, our children still need to take protective measures and wear masks on the way to the school and back home. In order to avoid crowding, we have arranged varying locations and times for children according to their sections and levels. Parents are required to drop-off their children at the designated sites, pass through the designated channel, and all the children need have a morning check with the nurse. After confirming the safety and health, the class teacher will lead the children to the classroom.
While we were worried that children might exhibit some fear and insecurities when returning after such an extended period of being at home, we quickly learned that children’s enthusiasm and longing to see their friends at school far outweighed any fear and their excitement was equal to that of our teachers. It wasn’t hard to adjust back into school life and social interactions, playing with friends, listening to music, and having outdoor activities. With warm smiles from teachers and Ayis, everyone shared the feeling of being back at our familiar campus, with familiar teachers and familiar friends. This made the children feel safe and comfortable instead of fear and insecurity.
In order to ensure our children’s knowledge of virus prevention, to guide them on how to wear masks and wash their hands, and to cultivate their daily health habits at school, on the first day each class carried out lessons about epidemic prevention and control, and therefore inspired the children to be positive towards their new school life.
The campus that the children haven't seen for a long time adds a feeling of novelty for them. Together they will go with the teachers to visit some of their favorite spots at campus including our beloved garden we have missed, and we will take a ride on the Newton train.
On the first day of school our children feel it is familiar yet altered in a way. Some things have changed such as the times and the ways entering the school, but the feeling of love for the campus, for us all, children, teachers and staff alike has not changed.
