introduction

 Zhangjiagang campus

Opening in 2014, Newton Zhangjiagang is one of Newton’s newest campuses. Located just outside of Suzhou, the campus uses its unique location to develop a rigorous curriculum that combines the resources of a big city school with the appeal and attention to detail of a small town campus.

All classes are bilingual, and we employ one English teacher for every two classes, ensuring all students are given maximum exposure to both the English and Chinese curriculum. Situated in a beautiful, three story building, our dedication to a philosophy of learning through play shines through in the campus’s design. Large windows open out onto our indoor and outdoor play areas including a swimming pool, sand pit, motorized train, jungle gym, garden, and Lego room.

A classroom serves as a home away from home and we want our homes to be as comfortable and welcoming as possible. All classrooms at Newton are decorated to reflect the theme of the curriculum as well as the interests and abilities of our students. The students’ own work hangs besides the lesson posters and flashcards, reminding students that this classroom is as much theirs as it is the teachers.

We believe in the importance of a variety of teaching methods to ensure each learning style is accommodated and encouraged. To this end, we constantly encourage our teachers to seek out new and innovative techniques that place engagement and interaction at the forefront of the lesson. Students learn best when they’re intrinsically interested in the material, and our teachers work to build an environment that is fun, entertaining, and safe.

why newton

Newton Kindergartens offer your child and family the best in early childhood education. With a constant eye on the future of education, it is our goal to help parents raise confident and skilled children with excellent social adaptability. As a driving ethos, we believe that everyone can and should learn with their own personal interest and commitment. Learning is a life-long gift that starts with ourselves and is supported with our confidence in our abilities. Newton students know it is ok to make mistakes; in fact, it is one of the most essential parts of the learning process. It tests our resolve and integrity and teaches us the importance of taking risk.

As kindergarten educators, we continue to self-teach and learn from our colleagues. All Newton staff from cooks to teachers to campus management are expected to evaluate personal areas of improvement in order to fully realize the examples we set as role-models for our students. Within the guiding principles of "always learning, always communicating,” our program offers social-based skill development in language, arts, music, sports and learning centers.

Please explore the Newton program and values of explore, play learn & grow found throughout this website for an all encompassing view of what a Newton education provides

LANGUAGE

The English and Chinese education provided introduces students to all aspects of a language education. Students are completely immersed in their environments and focused on reading, writing, speaking, and listening to the language. English language education begins in Pre-Nursery where we begin to introduce the sounds and words. Progressing through the levels, we learn the alphabet and phonetics, providing our K2 students with the ability to study the language outside of a teacher’s instructions.

ARTS

Arts and craft activities are a regular component of our lessons and give our students a chance to express themselves in new and creative ways. Whether we’re painting, coloring, or making a collage, students explore their own interests and bring their imagination to life. We also offer painting enrichment classes outside of our normal lessons to give students more time to be creative.

MUSIC

What’s life without a little music? Songs start off our lessons and carry out throughout the day. In our music room, students practice piano and learn the building blocks of reading music. In the classroom, each student has their own set of mini-instruments which we love to use whenever we have the chance.

SPORTS

Young children have a lot of energy and our campus provides multiple ways to burn some of it off. A racing track, trampoline, jungle gym, and PE room are just a few of the ways we incorporate physical play into our daily routines. We also direct multiple enrichment classes throughout the semesters like soccer and ballet for students to receive more directed practice.
