OCTOBER LETTER
From Principal October 26th, 2016.
Dear parents,
It's noon on Wednesday and the rain is pouring down. Today was supposed to be our fieldtrip to the Shanfang Shan Zoo and Changzhou Dinosaur Park but, due to the weather playing tricks, we weren't able to go. I apologize for the short notification of re-schedule. We were following the weather forecast closely all of Monday and by day's end accuweather.com promised roughly 50% chance of small rain after 13:00 Wednesday, which was manageable. However, yesterday morning the promise was 100% chance of heavy rain and we had to reschedule. I am sorry for the inconvenience and I sincerely hope that you and your respective places of work can understand the difficulty and dependence on suitable weather for fieldtrips and sports days.
The Fieldtrips will take place on November 1st, Tuesday instead and follow same arrangements.
However, please be informed that if the weather is uncooperative yet again, the event will be cancelled and rescheduled for Spring, 2017.
The remaining Sports days will go ahead on November 4th, parent participation is not required, if weather is bad we will do it on the first possible day after.
If you wish to join, please inform your teachers so they will keep you updated.
Our K1 & K2 classes have been invited to visit the nearby "Amigo Baseball Club" throughout this week and the coming week, where their qualified MLB coaches will teach our students the American game of Baseball at their spacious indoor facilities.
We had a wonderful month of October and a nice return after the national holiday week, children are all settled and our curriculum / course programs are running smoothly. As something new, from this Friday, all students will receive individual "Weekly Progress Records" with curriculum summary, standardized assessment and personal comments. In the future the communication book will be used for daily communication only, the required weekly personal comment will be found on the record paper, which will be sent home in a plastic sleeve, must be read and signed by a parent and returned the following school day for record keeping by your teachers at school. At the end of the semester or when a student finishes attendance at Hui Xin campus, the weekly progress records will be issued to the family along with the semester progress report, which can be shown to future places of study.
The previous week we issued the first of our quarterly program survey's to 4 random families per class and I want to thank all of you who received a survey for helping us to prioritize areas of improvement with your feedback. I am honored that 90 out of 90 supports our entrance rules, even if they have experienced the inconvenience of being late and that all report that their children are happy to come to school and 88 out of 90 find the parent events sufficient, though with a few suggestions of additional events, which we will consider. 3 out of 90 surveys indicate a desire for a more regular parent/teacher communication, to that extend I hope that the "Weekly Progress Record" will be appreciated and emphasize that all teachers are required to check books daily and reply daily to any written notices by parents, just as parents are required to check daily as well. A few new parents do not have my contact information, please feel free to write me on anders@internewton.com or call # +86 13771904459 if I can help with any questions or concerns.
Finally, due to a misunderstanding in school policy, regarding one student, I would like to let parents who come to campus for drop-off/pick-up know that our teachers are not allowed to personally help pick-up or escort any students to/from the gate area. All students must be brought to the class-room or playground, handed over to your teachers where after they immediately will mark your child as "attending" by writing their arrival time and when you pick-up, your signature represent a sign-out as you leave campus. For entrance after 9:00 or pick-up before 15:00, arrange early with your teachers. Our teachers are expected to devote their time to the needs of the class-room and all its students.
November 1st, Tuesday: New date for fieldtrips to Shanfang Shan Zoo & Changzhou Dinosaur Park.
November 4th, Friday: New date for Sports Days. Parent participation voluntary.
November 18th, Friday: Withdrawal deadline for deposit refunds, please contact admissions-hxj@internewton.com and inform your teachers if your child will not continue attendance 2nd semester, 2016.
November 25th, Friday: Voluntary parents are welcomed to join the class-room for Christmas decorating.
Sincerely,
Anders S Christensen, principal
and the Hui Xin team!
