December 16th, 2015.
During the past weeks we have experienced a few days approaching PM2.5 levels of close to 300 (very unhealthy). I would like to inform all parents of our inside / outside rules for high levels of PM2.5
Under PM2.5 of < 100 doors and windows can be open (if it's not too hot or cold) and outside play as regular.
Whenever the PM2.5 levels reach > 100, classes must close doors, windows and turn on their air-purifiers. However outside play and exercise will not be limited.
When PM2.5 levels cross over > 150, again the classes close doors, windows, turn on air-purifiers and begin to limit outside play to shorter durations.
Anything over PM2.5 > 200, means we will cancel outside play and turn on air-purifiers with closed doors and windows.
At levels of 200 and above I recommend parents to let their children wear PM2.5 approved filter masks when coming and leaving school in the morning.
Typical symptoms of air-pollution includes cough, dry throat, head-ache, dizziness and a lowered immune defense system, which makes it easier for people to contract other illness' at the same time, as the body's natural defense system is already busy combating pollutants.
Let's all stay safe and healthy together!
