POLICY OF "NO GIFTS" AT NEWTON KINDERGARTENS
Dear Parents,
In regards to the upcoming teachers day on September 10th we would like to advise all parents of the general
"no gift" policy at Newton Kindergartens.
Newton Kindergartens advocate a strong relationship of trust between teachers, parents, children and management. Giving and receiving gifts on teacher's day has been an unwanted sort-of "tradition" amongst Chinese kindergartens. A "tradition" that often leaves both parents and teachers in an awkward position, where gifts might come with expectations of favours or a feeling of insecurity towards our professional work relationship. Some teachers might even feel jealous of other teachers!
The "no gift" policy applies to all teachers and management, no Newton staff should by any means ask or receive gifts, vouchers, cash, securities, flowers or dinner invitations from parents.
Any staff who has received a gift must return it to parents with a smile and a thank you. All staff is required to inform their supervisor if a present has been given. It is considered a serious offense for any staff to receive a gift without returning it and informing their supervisor.
If not properly handled the employee could face termination of contract with Newton Kindergartens.
From a parent perspective, we fully understand that you might want to express gratitude to your child's teachers, but kindly ask you to do so by either writing a "thank you card" or making a "creative card" together with your wonderful children.
It is every teacher's goal to care and be fair to all children while they grow. Communicating either via. the communication book or in person and working together with parents to improve children's life at home and in school while getting a "smile", a "good morning" and "have a nice day" is the most important gift you and your child can ever give a teacher!
Sincerely,
Mr. Anders & Newton Kindergarten Group.
