Dear parents,
We had a great first few days of "Unity Week" at campus and today we celebrated "Unity Day" together. It was a fun day, full of teambuilding and friend appreciation activities both in classes and out of class. Together in pink and orange all students and staff had plenty of chances to tell each other what we like about our classmates.
Nursery and K1 continued to tie ribbons on trees and bushes, which you might have noticed at the entrance. K2 classes are each doing friendship murals on the chalk-walk at school. Each day of the week has a theme. From Monday to Friday we will cover "Friendship, Love, Unity, Helping & Giving".
In classes each morning was started with the campus friendship chant "Today Here We Come!".
We've come to school, let's have some fun!
Hello! Hello! Good morning!
We have ideas and we love to help!
Let's share the love and a great big hug
Today here we come!
We've come to school, to have some fun!
We're doing our best and working as one
Saying "I am sorry", if we are wrong!
Let's share the love and a great big hug
Today here we come!
And on this very day of unity all students made friendship bracelets and learned about the amazing things we can achieve together. We talked about teams, sports teams, construction teams and musical groups who all work together.
K2 students learned about "rowing" and how a team has to work in sync together (In Dragon Boat races a drummer keeps the beat). Students used ladders in lieu of rowing boats and learned the importance of working together.
In K1 students learned that we can actually move mountains together, as they used a rope to pull the play castle on the playground. Something that nobody could do on their own. Nursery made a friendship flower with colorful tires that had to be moved in teams in the play-plaza and Pre-nursery did fun music and movement activities about friendship.
It was a beautiful and fun day with a very important theme!
Please find photos from today below and both the "Today Here We Come!" and "How To Be A Friend?" posters from school.
Sincerely,
Newton, Hui Xin campus management and teachers
