The weather is getting cooler and more comfortable. Children are playing happily outside and all of the outside areas, bicycle areas, football field, slides and experiment areas are put to good use.
This particular time of year is one of my personal favorites as the sweet amazing scent of the Osmanthus blossoms begin to fill our campus with a warm and pleasant natural perfume. Autumn is here and soon leaves and trees will turn orange, brown and yellow, the rain will stop and we will have a month of comfortable weather.
This week the parent-teacher meetings are coming to an end and on behalf of campus management and all of your teachers I wish to thank you for taking the time, visiting either after school hours or on Saturday, September 19th to learn more about your child's first month and semester at school.
While everyone is excited about the upcoming October / Mid-Autumn holiday and look forward to spend time with their loved ones either here in Jiangsu or out of province, we are cautious and kindly ask all our staff and families to support the school by filling in the travel disclosure form distributed this week in the communication books. A vast majority of our staff, myself included, are following recommendations and staying in Jiangsu province for the duration of this holiday.
Upon returning from the holiday, we will complete our yearly Sports Events with focus on teamwork and team games. While parents cannot join due to Covid-19 regulations we look forward to 3 days of fun sports activities on the 13th, 14th and 15th of October.
From October 19th - 23rd we celebrate "Unity Week' and on the 21st, all students are encouraged to wear pink or orange colored clothes to school. Throughout the week we will focus on kindness, friendship and appreciation. We will teach children about unity and inclusion while taking a firm stance against bullying. Students will make unity chains, tie ribbons on our trees and develop a daily habit to look for the good in others and to give compliments to friends in the class.
Part of Unity Week and an important part of our philosophy at campus is based on caring for each other, animals and the planet. We do not promote any form of violence. We care! We share! No violence! No toy guns! Students are not allowed to make swords or weapons out of blocks and are taught not to use pointed fingers to shoot. Hold hands, share toys, play together and build understanding for each other through communication is essential. We believe that caring for each other is a first step that will naturally lead to caring for a whole lot of other things, such as animals, plants, trees, foods, to fix problems, improve qualities and to make a difference.
Within the Unity Week, Pre-nursery & Nursery classes will substitute their Spring fieldtrip with at-school fun and games. Teachers and campus management have decided to use the class-fee to arrange a day full of exciting shows and activities for each of our Pre-nursery and Nursery classes. We will invite a magician to do bubble shows at campus, use a professional dancer to teach kids about movement/modern dance, children will join an extra LEGO enrichment class and jumping castles will be set up on the playground. It will be very fun.
