"What is the world like? What unique cultures do different countries have?"
Children are full of curiosity about the world. This year's Festival of Colors saw Newton's little explorers embark on another fantastic global journey, stepping into Norway, Argentina, Egypt, China, and France to experience the unique charm of these five nations. Through a variety of engaging activities, children took small steps towards a big world, allowing curiosity and a desire for exploration to blossom in a multicultural environment!
Exploring Five Cultures: Engaging in Dialogue with the World
China·Beijing – Ancient Civilization, Millennium Capital
China, as one of the four ancient civilizations, boasts a rich history of five thousand years. Beijing, this ancient capital that has carried a thousand years of culture, is attracting the world's attention with its unique charm.
The children stepped into the Beijing area to explore the city's unique flavor: The PN children transformed into adorable pandas, playing a ball-rolling game; the K1 children, amazed by the Great Wall, used building blocks to construct their own "Great Wall of China"; the nursery children played traditional hopscotch on a central axis game blanket created by the teachers; and the K2 children immersed themselves in intangible cultural heritage handicrafts, with Peking Opera masks, clay sculptures, and lacquer fans taking on new life in their hands.
Norway – Dazzling Aurora, Nordic Wonderland
In the distant Nordic region, Norway is a fairytale-like country. It has majestic snow-capped mountains, sparkling glaciers, mysterious forests, and dazzling auroras dancing in the night sky.
After learning about Norway's icy and snowy scenery, the PN and N children played fun ice & snow games and crafted imaginative creations. Nursery children transformed into "athletes," experiencing the fun of ice hockey and curling; PN children used a variety of materials to make Arctic igloos, and when the lights were on, the igloo roofs seemed to reflect the colors of the aurora borealis, making the children feel as if they were in a dreamy Nordic wonderland.
The K1 and K2 children became "aurora scientists," exploring the mysteries of the aurora borealis. In the "Aurora Room," they used small electric lights to draw light lines on the light-accumulating film. As streaks of "aurora" shone in the darkness, the children excitedly shared their discoveries. The aurora borealis night lights made by the K2 children lit up the Aurora Room!
Argentina – Passionate and Unrestrained, the Land of Tango
At the southernmost tip of South America, Argentina is a passionate country. Its vast grasslands, majestic Andes Mountains, magnificent waterfalls, beautiful tango dancing, and world-renowned football culture make it a must-see destination.
The K1 children engaged in an intense football match, their running figures resembling future football stars; the K2 children danced gracefully to tango music, their confident smiles beaming on their faces; PN children held colorful ribbons and danced to the music, feeling the passion and vitality of Argentina; and the nursery children used clay to make the Seven Color Mountain, integrating Argentina's natural scenery into their creations.
Egypt – On the Banks of the Nile, An Ancient Civilization
Egypt, like China, is one of the four ancient civilizations. It has a rich cultural heritage, including hieroglyphics, pyramids, and temples. These mysterious monuments attract countless explorers.
In the replicated pyramid desert and Nile riverside scenes on campus, the children embarked on an immersive exploration. The PN &N children transformed into "little archaeologists," searching for treasure in the desert, and excitedly shared their discoveries with their companions when they dug up fossils and treasure clues; the K1K2 children became "cultural relic restorers," exploring the evolution of hieroglyphics and experiencing the mysterious colors of pharaoh culture.
Romantic Charm, Capital of Art – France
France is a country full of romance and artistic atmosphere. It has a rich cultural heritage, unique natural scenery, food culture, fashion trends, and distinctive architecture.
The nursery children used creative paintings to dress the Eiffel Tower in romantic colors; the K2 children played the traditional French boules game to see who could get closer to the target ball; the pre-nursery children transformed into "dessert experts," DIY-ing crepes, tasting the fruits of their labor; their faces filled with satisfied smiles.
Festival of Colors Week Special Cuisine – A Global Journey for the Taste Buds
Food tasting is the most intuitive cultural exchange experience. Due to geographical characteristics and cultures, each country has very different diets. During this week, Newton's chefs combined the characteristics of the five countries and carefully prepared multicultural cuisine suitable for children's tastes, allowing their taste buds to embark on a global journey!
K1&K2 Parent Open Days – Interactive Experience, Sharing Growth
The parent half-day activities built a bridge of communication between families and the kindergarten. Through interactive experiences and on-site observation, parents gained an in-depth understanding of their children's growth and learning. Fun Chinese and English activities demonstrated the children's learning achievements.
Parent-child interactive experiences centered around the multicultural theme created a path for parents and children to immerse themselves in the exploration of Egypt and France, experiencing the diversity and wonder of foreign cultures in an immersive way and enhancing parent-child relationships in the process of exploration!
The week-long Festival of Colors activities opened a door to the world for the children. Through laughter and exploration, they experienced the vastness of the world and the diversity of cultures. Education is diverse, and this activity not only provided cultural enlightenment but also expanded their global vision. Little explorers, engage in dialogue with the world on campus and embrace diverse growth!
