What an amazing time at Newton, Hui Xin campus! In the spirit of the upcoming Spring Festival we hosted the 2021 Charity Drive in connection with a week full of Chinese arts and festive activities!
Children learned about the power of love and kindness of giving, not just in the form of money or donations, but also by giving our effort and time to help those in need.
We sincerely wish to thank the volunteer parents who helped Newton staff in charge of the Charity auction at the entrance. Throughout the past week many children also donated their own pocket money and families were invited to bring in used blankets, rugs and bed sheets to give to the Suzhou Animal Shelter to help homeless dogs and cats stay warm in the cold weather. Pet foods were collected and families could make direct contributions at the donation boxes. To great success, the teacher's art auction allowed parents to make a bid for one of the many beautiful artwork with all proceeds going directly to the animal shelter. This year we managed to raise a grand total of 19.152 RMB! What a fantastic result! all thanks to our amazing parents, children and teachers. Thank you for your never ending generosity and love!
To go with the concept of "Charity" English teachers taught children about animal welfare and how we can take care of dogs and cats, much in the same way we take care of ourselves. Children learned that dogs and cats are also known as pets and need to stay clean, warm, fed and happy to grow healthy. The older students at school learned about shelters and how volunteering provides help to those in need, both people and pets. To finish the week, children made pet scarves for dogs and cats from donated reused fabrics and dog toys out of ripped fabric, braided or tied together in knots. We also made some sweet recycled dogs and cats out of recycled paper rolls! It was a sweet and meaningful end to the week.
K1 & K2 children had prepared wonderful performances to show in the campus theater and even though we could not have guests for this year's charity drive and spring festival, we recorded the performances for parents to watch in the comfort of their homes. This year's performances featured traditional drum and scarf dances with a more contemporary "ox" dance. Hosted by our foreign teacher Ms. Alex and Chinese teacher Ms. Yolanda.
Teachers also put on a unique Chinese Puppet Show in the theater for our children to enjoy. The colorful and festive figurines danced, sang and acted to their hearts delight while children were spellbound by the traditional drama that unfolded on the campus stage.
Finally, Chinese teachers and children made a wealth of beautiful art work, including printing couplets in red and black ink, plum blossom art, year of the ox paper cups and decorations for our New Year trees at the lobby which really makes our campus filled with the spirit of spring. In PE class children learned about the “Lion Dance” and had fun moving to the beat of the red drum!
With the support of our amazing parents and children the charity drive has finished, but the spirit of love, kindness and giving is never ending. Let's always work together, help those in need and together make the world a better place.

让我们一起来回顾新纽顿会心幼儿园精彩而有意义的爱心时光吧！在即将迎来中国新年之际，2021年新纽顿新年慈善活动也拉开了序幕，在为期一周的慈善捐赠拍卖活动中，新纽顿的老师和小朋友们体验带着爱心和浓浓年味的丰富活动，用爱的行动传递着温暖与善意。
在各种别具意义的活动中，孩子们学会了表达爱、传递爱，懂得了爱与给予，并不局限于金钱或者其他各式各样的捐赠，它同样存在于在帮助别人过程中我们付出的努力和时间。
非常感谢热心的家长志愿者朋友参与本次慈善义卖活动。整个活动中，孩子们和爸爸妈妈们通过现场及线上捐赠，为本次慈善活动的捐助项目助力。有许多孩子拿出了自己的储蓄罐中的零花钱和压岁钱进行爱心捐款。还有很多家庭加入到物品捐助中，捐献的旧毯子、地垫和床单让小动物们不受寒冷侵扰，捐赠的猫粮狗粮让小动物们不再感受到饥饿。在爱心拍卖环节中，我们以投标竞价的方式来拍卖老师们的画作，所有拍卖、捐款所得将直接捐给动物保护协会。令人激动的是，在家长朋友们的爱心善举下，本次新年慈善活动我们共筹集善款19152元人民币，这一切都归功于我们每一位心存爱意的家长、孩子和老师们。在此，我们衷心感谢各位家长的慷慨捐赠与爱心！
为更好贯彻“慈善”理念并将它融于课程，老师们向孩子们介绍了动物安全知识及如何照顾小动物（这就好像照顾我们自己一样）。孩子们通过课程学习知道狗和猫也是我们最常养的家庭宠物，他们需要保持干净整洁，温暖，也需要通过精心喂养和关爱善待才能健康成长。中大班的孩子们还了解了动物保护协会的相关信息，以及动保志愿者们如何向那些亟待帮助的动物施以援手，给予它们关爱与照顾。课程中孩子们积极实践，利用捐赠的可织布为小动物制作了宠物围巾、宠物玩具，还利用废旧材料卷纸筒制作成可爱的小动物造型的创意手工作品。在特别的课程活动中，孩子们度过了甜蜜和意义非凡的一周！
中大班热情的宝贝们在小剧场为大家带来了融合传统的中国大鼓和具有牛年元素的围巾舞。由于疫情防控需要，今年的慈善活动我们无法邀请家长们来园参加，家长可以通过下方的视频观看孩子们的表演。
除了孩子们的精彩表演外，老师们在小剧场也给我们带来了极具中国年味的戏曲木偶剧，在老师精彩演绎下，舞台上的戏曲木偶小人随音乐快乐舞动，舞台下的孩子们被深深吸引，一个个都目不转睛投入观看，时不时拍手叫好。
老师和孩子们一起设计制作了带着美好寓意和年味的手工艺品，春节对联、中国画，牛年小饰品工……，一件一件倾注爱的手工品挂满了新年树，熠熠生辉。孩子们还变身为精神抖擞的舞狮人，合作表演“舞狮”，随着鼓声用活灵活现、生动有趣的表演，为慈善活动助兴！
在家长和孩子们的支持和积极参与下，我们的新年慈善活动圆满结束了，然而我们的爱与善举将不断延续。让我们一起延续新纽顿的慈善精神，传递温暖、传递爱，让世界变得更美好。
