 Food safety

Food safety and nutrition is a topic that we care a lot in our daily life. In recent years, a lot of food safety problems have alerted us to be more cared about children’s health. As an early childhood education institute, we care not only the food safety, but also the food nutrition.
One of our work objectives is to popularize the knowledge of food safety and food nutrition among the staff and enhance their awareness of food and health. On December 21st, 2016, we invited the nutritionist from Suzhou SIP Zhiwei nutrition and health service center to make a lecture of “We can learn a lot from food labels” which illustrated how to read from food labels.
Nutritionist Li explained five ways to read food labels and other food safety knowledge. From her lecture, we realize the importance of scientifically choosing food, and we learn that what to eat and how to eat is closely related to our health.
Nutritionist Cheng did an experiment about food additives. She put some food additives into a bottle of pure water and within one minute it turned out to be a yummy and juicy “orange juice”, and with more food additives changed into carbonated drinks and “milk tea” drinks. It was an amazing experiment that our staff felt so shocked because the “milk tea” drinks had no milk at all and “juice” drink was not real fruit juice at all!
Through this activity, we had deeper understanding of food additives, and learned that how to use food additives correctly and what are the bad effects if we use overdoes. We agreed that we should set a good example, be against the illegal act of using overdose food additives, choose safe and nutritious food, let students and parents know more about food and nutrition and learn to protect human ourselves.
In the following communication, Ms. Shirley, principal of Shang Jun campus, mentioned that in the “Plan of Health China 2030”, we will put more emphasis on school health education, and include it in national education system and the all-round-development education. As more and more city teenagers have the problem of being picky about food, poor appetite for meal, over-taking of processed food and sweet drinks, children obesity, and sexual precocity, we hope that we can bring more nutrition knowledge to children and parents, strengthen their awareness of health and nutrition, cultivate children’s health habit and work together towards national health.
In the future activities, we will pass to children and parents more knowledge of food safety and nutrition, let children love natural food, let parents care more about food safety. Balanced food, balanced health!
