Dear parents,
With slight rain this morning, the air quality is relatively good and soon the wet green grass on the playground will meet a flock of bright yellow boots as children enjoy the morning exercise in their rain clothes.
It's Wednesday and we still have two additional days left of "Festival of Colors" events. I continue to be inspired by our families' creative and involving activities. Upon concluding the festival on Friday, more than 130 presentations will have taken place. I thoroughly believe these events and the cooperation between parents and teachers for the benefit of learning social values and sharing cultural traditions serves as the ultimate role model for children with an international future. To round out the weeks of festivities, this Friday, March 22nd, all students are invited to wear traditional national clothes or their countries' flag's colors to school as a "Pop-Up Spirit Day".
For parents who pick-up children from school in the afternoon, you have probably noticed that we have begun displaying photos and descriptions of the daily menu in the lobby. In the coming week, we will interchange between displaying the menu and the AQI information on the screen. From next month, daily AQI information will be displayed in the window of the guard's office on its own board along with a description of the school's air quality standard and the daily menu photos will be shown, whenever possible, during morning drop-offs as well.
Regarding food and beverages, we have recently hired an additional chef Jackie Yue, who specializes in western foods and who has worked as head chef in various international hotels. We welcome him to join chef Jimmy and pastry chef Jack, chef's assistant Alice and a handful of kitchen assistants. Together with campus nurse Ms. Anna, management and Newton families we will keep developing our food services and provide your children with natural, high quality and tasty international dishes. As always, you are highly encouraged to share recipes of favorite foods that your children enjoy at home by sending an email to nurse-hxj@internewton.com.
From April 15th - 26th you will be invited to your class's, "Open Day" (invitations will be sent out shortly) where you will join a typical morning routine with morning exercise, English, games, music and learning center activities. This is event is non-mandatory, but you are encouraged to join and have a fun half-day with your class.
On April 19th we celebrate "Earth Day" at school with activities and projects to emphasize the protection of our planet. It is also a spirit day and students can wear green or blue to school on the day. Children's Day will be celebrated on May 31st and as most of you know, it is parents and teachers who perform for children. It is a good idea to start thinking of performance ideas already and consult your teachers to receive videos from past year's children's days for inspiration.
Further, random parents will receive program surveys in the coming week and we kindly ask you to fill in and return in closed envelopes to either your teachers or management. The surveys help us evaluate what areas of service need improving.
