On April 19th the campus celebrated Earth, it's variety and splendor. We emphasized ways to protect and preserve our planet. On April 22nd, the whole world celebrate Earth Day, but we decided to get a head-start and do our "Spirit-Day" on Friday instead. Children and teachers were invited to wear blue and green colors to school to show unity and respect to our Blue (and green) planet.
As with previous year's, Earth Day is a special celebration at Newton as it goes perfectly with our ethos and company values of being kind, protecting animals and caring for nature. At campus we have been sorting and organizing waste according to different categories and in classes children sort according to plastic, paper and metals. K2 children did ground experiments about how plastic do not decompose and whereas forexample a banana peal provides nutrients to the soil (to Earth) as it decomposes, plastic never decompose and do not transform into environmentally friendly compounds for hundreds, maybe thousands of years.
Our classes made artwork out of recycled materials and newspapers. It was a fun day! but also a very educational and very important day!
We believe that together, we can change the world!
Happy Earth Day Weekend everyone!
Sincerely,
Newton Hui Xin Kindergarten
