Dear everyone,
Thank you for a warm and amazing month of December together! Both students and teachers had a lot of fun decorating the classrooms and welcoming parents for events throughout the past few weeks. K1 & K2 put on great shows for their parents in the theater and guests brought in delicious foods to share; it was beautiful!
Parents are invited to schedule an appointment with their teachers for an end-of-semester meeting in the period between January 6th - 16th from 16:00 - 16:30 and 11th from 8:00 - 11:30 (10-15 minutes per meeting). This is a non-mandatory activity and will be scheduled on parents request. Please communicate in advance directly with your class teachers by phone or book.
On January 10th, the annual Charity Drive and Spring Festival event takes place. As years before, the campus will transform into a market place with vendors and performers. This year is special, as all Newton staff will dress up in historic costumes and role-play the life on an Ancient Chinese street. We encourage both students and parents to wear Chinese traditional clothes. As we aim to raise money for charity, we hope you are in a giving mood and will both donate directly at the entrance and also support our students' and teachers' efforts by bidding on the limited available art that will be on sale on the day; high quality traditional oil paper umbrellas, molded and painted Beijing Opera Masks, Chinese fans and printed woven fabrics all decorated by students and teachers. In advance of the event, please make sure to scan the QR code in previous update and let us know of your preferred charity (out of 3 options). The 3 charities will receive money as determined by the voters. * There is no regular school service on this event day and no school bus.
On Friday January 17th (last day of the semester) parents and grandparents are invited to join the classes in making Dumplings. Please communicate directly with your teachers if you wish to join the fun and please remember this day is a spirit day; children can wear red or golden colored clothes.
At campus, we have recently finished construction of our post center with our very own mailbox, which will be used in the warmer months as an activity area focused on sorting, categorizing, weighing, stamping items while teaching older students about addresses and deliveries. It will be fun! The English curriculum has rounded up Theme #4 Home & Family and will begin Theme #5 Inside & Outside Me in January.
* VERY IMPORTANT: The Domestic Summer Concert date has changed from Friday 19th of June to Wednesday 17th of June due to the SIPYCC theater's internal calendar arrangements.
Finally and most importantly, I want to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I will be going back to Denmark to see my family for two weeks, but look forward to return on January 6th and welcome in the New Year with all of you. In my absence Ms. Tina, Ms. Jessie & Ms. Cindy will be of your assistance. Should you require my urgent attention please inform Cindy to contact me (65075122 ext. 8105)
