On Monday, January 13th Hui Xin campus transformed into a market place from old China, complete with vendors, entertainment, street sellers and people wearing beautiful and colorful traditional costumes.
This year both Hui Xin staff, parents and students wore a variety of traditional Chinese costumes for the event, helping to create a colorful setting. However, not just for looks Hui Xin staff were demonstrating the old arts of hand printing, calligraphy, umbrella making and how to decorate Sichuan Opera masks.
Many students and even some parents were having fun decorating items on display too. As something new, this year parents could bid on their favorite Chinese art at the four art auction stations. Highest bidder paid 800 RMB for a beautiful wall scroll! Which will go a long way to help others, while also being decorative!
Together with our amazing parents and vendors we raised a total of 67.684 RMB at Hui Xin Campus together with 42.027 RMB from Bayside Campus for a total of 109.711 RMB! Amazing! A new record, again this year!
Almost all families from both Hui Xin and Bayside campus shared their votes for the 3 charitable causes and the 109.711 RMB will be distributed as follows; 24.61% for GREENPEACE, 53.45% for UNICEF and 21.94 for the SUZHOU ANIMAL SHELTER.
We thank you deeply for your generosity and wish you a very amazing New Year!
From everyone at Newton Hui Xin campus
