The joy of exploration in the summer camp
There is nothing more fascinating than exploring the unknown and making new discoveries. In the summer camp courses Chinese and foreign teachers guided children to learn more about scientific practices through interesting stories where we observed, discovered, explored and got to think like scientists! We had fun exploring scientific concepts like "The Magic Rainbow ", identifying objects that "sink or float” and learning about water in all its forms, like “Ice or liquid”. The many practical activities let children discover the mysteries of science and experience the joy of scientific exploration.
The joy of creative expression and arts.
At Newton, we hope that children learn to appreciate and observe the little things and the details in life by integrating those moments into art through experience and performance. Although, the eruption of a Volcano and the Igloo’s of the North is far away from us, children experience these unique concepts through imagination, art and expression with clay, cotton and a variety of materials. Children learned to make beautiful hand-made handkerchiefs by stacking, dyeing and coloring fabric. The procedure of adding pigments to water, created ever changing patterns that were colorful and magical in children's eyes.
Musical activities based on role-play and movement with stories and expression together with singing, dancing and playing musical instruments helped children to express themselves artistically.
Experience the fun theme games
In the Lego room and the construction areas children got to use their hands to create from their own imagination while working together with their classmates! In the gym room children had rich opportunity to move and exercise their bodies, out of the heat of the sun. After a sporty good time, we went to the library to cool down and read interesting picture books, while acting out the premise of the stories. By reading and learning new stories from around the world we can travel to new destinations each and every day.
Fun summer water play & games
In the heat of the Suzhou summer only water play can bring a touch of cool when playing outside. The many fun water play games and activities, exclusive to the summer camp is certainly a thing that all children look forward to!
In the water play area at Newton children wore beautiful swimsuits and used fun water play equipment in a variety of diverse games that made the whole plaza an ocean of joy!. Children love splashing water and wearing inflatable floating rings as if they were on a beach vacation. As a highlight, the fun water slide let’s brave children slide directly into the shallow pool and create a wave of excitement!
Children begin to adapt to kindergarten
At the very beginning of August, new students began their start and adventure at Newton kindergarten. For many, this was their first time to leave parents and grandparents for a full day and besides a few tears and initial reservations, they did very well and under the careful guidance of teachers began to adapt to the routines of life at kindergarten. Judging from the smiles on their faces, they will surely continue to grow up happily and with confidence at Newton!
At the end of the summer programs at Newton children can look back on many fun memories and exciting discoveries！As we get closer to the start of the 1st semester, some upgrades at campus awaits our students, including a new and improved play castle/ship on the playground. Let’s find all of the new additions to our campus home together at semester start!
