Exploring the Culture and Arts Center - Arts Appreciation
The magic of small stage performances
Every child is a born artist with a heart full of dreams and on the K2 outing we visited the theater of the Suzhou culture and arts center where children's dreams of art were ignited!
Children were guided by their teachers to learn about the theater and through discussions from the class-room beforehand.
--How to behave when going to the theater? Children answered: "Remember to be quiet and to enjoy the show", "No loud noises", "Cell phones should be put on silent mode", "No running around in a theater!". After compiling all of the good answers teachers and students used illustrations to exemplify good behavior;
--What items would you like to bring to the theater? Students asked the staff and learned the answers to interesting questions like "Can I bring popcorn like at the cinema?", "Can I bring drinks?"
Our students explored several stages to get a close-up look at theater culture, stage performances and the allure of dramatic arts.
The biggest attraction for children were the “Art space for kids” theater, a first of it's kind in China, with age-specific theater styles, from infant theater, parent-child theater to teenage theater, with many interesting and different elements as well as chic venue designs! We couldn't help but be impressed by the distinctive and exquisite theater experience!

Little Bunny's Time Machine - The Power of Picture Books
Suzhou stories hidden in a picture book exhibition
The anticipation from beginning of the year of the Rabbit is still vivid even though we are nearing its end. A native Suzhou "Bunny" in Yuanrong Tianmu Street tells us wonderful stories of Suzhou in the form of a picture book exhibition. At this Nursery and K1 outing we followed the footsteps of the "Little Bunny" at Yuanrong Tianmu and started a marvelous journey to unlock the ancient culture of Suzhou!
Nursery children has read the book about the little bunny with their teachers before they set off on the outing and were very curious about the little bunny's journey and couldn't wait to visit ancient Suzhou with her!
The "Little Bunny" picture book exhibition presented a colorful city full of joy and imagination. As we traveled back in time, we explored Suzhou as a thriving ancient city home to the "three cultural heritages" and the "grand canal". Children experienced traditional style Suzhou customs and in the book museum they listened carefully to it's introduction before leaving their names on the memorial wall. After the trip back in time children were emerged in the world of "Little Bunny" and imagined what might come next!
Walking in Yuanrong Tianjie - Appreciating our surroundings
A City Walk
Coming out of the exhibition hall, children spotted the surprise of Tianmu Street, the giant LED skywalk above our heads! An animation with small fish swimming above us and robots traveling in space captured the children's interest as they couldn't help but follow the fish as they swam away!
Continuing on our walk we saw the newly built "cultural corridor" bridge and on the screen of the corridor a large map of Suzhou Industrial Park was shown. Children spotted the "Suzhou Center", "The big pants building" and "Jinji lake". It was as if the children had become the little bunny in the story, riding on a time machine and experiencing the beauty of Suzhou, where ancient and modern culture intertwine!
Our school outings provide children with real life experiences and knowledge along with opportunities to explore and grow as we look forward to learning more and visiting new exciting places in the future!
