Dear families (cc'd staff),
As precaution to the "Wuhan virus" (Corona virus which causes pneumonia) the Hui Xin campus school management is following guidance from the public health/quarantine bureau and is issuing practical health measures to be implemented from first day back at school.
HEALTH MEASURES AT CAMPUS
1) All families (and employees) who have traveled to/from Wuhan in the past 30 days must inform our nurse directly by email to nurse-hxj@internewton.com before January 25th!. This is a requirement for all companies and schools in Suzhou. We strongly need your support!
2) If your child has been ill with a contagious illness over the holiday, you must inform us before returning to school and get a health clearance letter from your doctor. This is standard procedure year round and must be observed by all families.
3) Families must check children's temperature from home every day (new check forms will be available from first day at the door and sent home for bus students).
4) Adults with fever, flu or cold cannot bring students to school (all adults are encouraged to wear masks when entering campus).
5) Students will be checked for temperature at the gate by our nurses along with the regular morning health check. Students are recommended to wear masks until health check is performed (consider letting your child keep a mask at school for days with "limited outside play" due to pollution).
6) Newton staff will be checked by nurse upon arriving for work and is encouraged to wear masks daily. Staff must wear mask if sneezing/running nose and working with children.
7) Staff and students should wash hands more frequently and hand sanitizing liquids will be available in each class, the bathrooms, staff room and upon entering the lobby.
8) Newton management and nurses are observing the situation. We ask you to stay updated by checking the APP daily. We will post updates if further health measures will be implemented!
GENERAL HYGIENE ADVICE
Currently, the season of high incidence of respiratory infectious diseases has entered. In order to ensure the health of students, during the winter vacation, we kindly remind you to:
1) Focus on health and epidemic prevention from home and protect children and family members. Open windows and ventilate, help children to develop good hygiene habits, wash their hands properly with soap or hand sanitizer before and after meals and when going out.
2) Cover your mouth and nose with tissue when you cough/sneeze or cough/sneeze into your upper sleeve. Not your hands! (put used tissue in waste basket)
3) If possible, strengthen outdoor activities, enhance physical fitness, ensure a good diet with more fresh vegetables and fruit. Stay well rested.
4) Avoid taking children to public places where crowds gather with poor air circulation. Avoid contact with sick people. Wear masks when going out or going to the hospital for treatment.
5) Avoid going to epidemic areas such as Wuhan and its surroundings, avoid contact with wild animals and birds. Avoid staying in confined places where people are concentrated for a long time. During the holiday if you fall ill with the Wuhan virus or friends, family members around you are affected you must notify your child's school at all times on nurse-hxj@internewton.com.
6) In order to prevent the occurrence of infectious diseases and to maintain a healthy environment we must work together to prevent and control infectious diseases and protect children's health.
Finally, we kindly ask you not to forget to support your child emotionally and have a good talk. In recent days the news has been filled with many reports of illness and how everyone prepare for the worst. You might have family in Wuhan or know people affected by the travel ban. Stay positive, focus on how people working together, helping each other and sharing information is making a big difference.
Have a great New Year holiday!.
Sincerely,
Newton Hui Xin Campus Management and nurses
