What a great end to another fabulous year here at Newton! Our 2017 Summer Concert and K2 Graduation was held at 9:30 on Friday June 30th at the SIPYCC. Student arrived eager, ready to show off to their families performances they had been working so hard to prepare. For our theme this year we wanted to show the spirit of Newton and the full experience of being a Newton student. We aligned the natural progress of seasons to the growing progress of our children. Nature and children both go through beautiful stages of life and growth. Our theme focused on comparing these cycles to the guiding principals at Newton of explore, play, learn and grow. Children start out at Newton young and curious to explore. As they move into their second year of study they are more skilled and able to play more curious, exercising their imaginations. As they make it to their K1 year they are learning so many new things and can focus on subjects such as reading, math and music. In their final year of K2 we can see how much they have truly grown in only a few short years.
Our program began with the Summer Concert performances. In total we had 6 presentations varying in style from dances to short English plays. We saw many animal and insect characters showing off their skills. It was easy to see the fun that the students experience at Newton because as they performed they all had big smiles on their faces, enjoying every minute of their show. The second part of the program was the K2 Graduation. This bittersweet production had parents and teachers in tears but with warm happy hearts. Children performed a group song, received their individual diplomas, and gave a farewell bow of gratitude to their kindergarten family. It is always hard to watch another class go but it is with great confidence that we send them out into the world. Students and staff have worked hard and had fun building positive encouraged kids who will set great examples as they continue on with their lives.
Thank you to all who were able to attend this show, your continued support is greatly appreciated. Congratulations to the K2 graduates, we are so proud of you, and honored to have been a part of your lives. We look forward to more wonderful memories and successful graduates in the many future years here at Newton!
