Accompanied by lively lion and dragon dances and coming with festive gongs and drums, the Newton 2024 New Year Charity Drive graced our campus.
New Year markets, folk games, and traditional Chinese snacks, along with donations and charity sales, created a warm and over whelming festive atmosphere on campus. This was a grand event that was dedicated to creating a taste of the new year, flowing with love and warmth. Let's start the year together by doing good deeds!
At Newton Bayside, we gathered all kinds of New Year flavors to create the most New Year-style market!
Mysterious Sichuan opera face-changing, beautiful and Dragon and Lion Dances, and Ukrainian artists' wonderful mime performances...these special programs had brought a sensory feast to the charity drive. The CNY songs of the folk music band had pushed the folk taste to a climax.
The new year is a happy image in children’s minds, they enjoyed the fun games and interesting experiences. Arrow pitching, ring-tossing, luck shooting, and game competitions...a variety of games combined with traditional folk customs and modern creativity created a fun and festive atmosphere for all!
Children not only enjoyed the games, but also immersed themselves in various DIY workshops, felt the strong New Year flavor and the joy of creation.
In the Newton Photography Studio, parents took New Year family photos with their children, capturing the beautiful moments of parent-child companionship at the beginning of the new year.
At the entranceway there were boxes to donate money from the heart, and as you can see, our students and their parents were full of love. "I want to send blankets to the kids in Tibet," "I want to help homeless animals find a home"...each child has a different wish, hoping to help those who need it.
Although we were in cold winter, each Newton family had joined hands with warmth and kindness to create the warmest light of winter, heating up this cold weather!
Teachers and students used recycled and natural materials to create handmade crafts integrating the festive and new year elements! There were wind chimes, the Chinese style paintings, handmade flower bouquets, hanging dragons, lamps with natural elements, knot hanging decorations, and New Year-style refrigerator stickers...these crafts full of childlike innocence and Chinese style were all made by teachers and students, and lucky bags full of donated items from each family, made the Newton bazaar a place of love and kindness!
It warmed your heart to wander through the Newton bazaar, especially with its delicious food, fun games, and great items. Parents and children were all attracted by traditional delicacies such as hand-crafted lollipops, sticky buns, and dragon beard candy, or the booths of folk artists such as dough modelling, Pyrography gourd, palm weaving, and paper cutting, or the various New Year and miscellaneous items in the bazaar. When children used their "Newton vouchers" to buy delicious food and items, they not only experiencing the joy of using currency but also gained a sense of pride in transmitting love and warmth.
The Newton 2024 New Year Charity Drive came to a close amidst warmth and joy, but our altruistic nature will not cease!
We express our gratitude to every Newton family and staff member who actively participated and generously supported this event. Let us continue to carry forward Newton's charitable actions and guide our children to a brighter and more loving future!
