Learn from exploration, gain from experiencing!
The second outing activity of this semester started under the winter sunshine, the children were excited and couldn’t wait to discover and explore in different ways!
The nursery children went to the Li liangji Chinese Medicine Clinic, observed various Chinese medicines herbs and learned about the culture of traditional Chinese medicine.
When they stepped into the clinic, our Nursery students were attracted to the fragrant herbs, Chinese medicine materials and various pharmaceutical tools. “Wow, what’s this?” “What is that smell?”……They were curious and had so many questions as they listened carefully to their guide.
They explored Chinese herbal medicine by observing, feeling, and smelling. They found answers to hidden mysteries and learned about six different Chinese herbal medicines. Then the they used these healthy herbs to make a bag full of handmade foot bath.
Everyone had so much fun carefully picking herbs and putting them in their bag. They couldn’t wait to show their teachers the finished product!
K1&K2 Visit the Little Bunny’s Time Machine Exhibit
This is a series of children’s books with a ‘little bunny’ as the protagonist and Suzhou as the living background. After teachers read them the series of little bunny stories in the class, the K1 and K2 students were not only interested in the books, they were curious about Suzhou local culture.
The children were surprised when they saw the giant version of one the bunny. In the exhibition hall, a one-meter heigh booth was specially set up for the children to see the changes and developments of ancient Gusu and Suzhou New District.
This series of ‘little bunny’ books are deeply loved by children, due to its full artistic sense, rich colors and infinite imagination of the lovely rabbit. Everyone enjoyed exploring the exhibition and deepened their understanding of the Grand Canal from the book.
Special Action-Little Task Rabbits Unlocking Secrets
After visiting the exhibition, the students were given their own little bunny task. Each class was given a map, and at each secret location a envelop to find full of tasks.
The children scampered through the street full of excitement and searched to find the locations on their map. They entered the shops and politely asked staff if there was an envelope waiting for them.
“Wow! Look! I found an envelope with a task card inside!” It’s only the beginning of finding those envelopes, and children were full of energy to keep challenging the tasks on the cards. Let’s go back to school and check what tasks inside!
When the kids came back to school, they took out their task cards and compared them to the bunny books and Suzhou culture. Then, they recorded their designs, answers, and ideas on the task cards. The teachers then made an interactive story wall with the completed task cards.
Every experience is an opportunity for children to grow up, when we take our students off campus, the world is their classroom!
