Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
Today to celebrate the mid-Autumn holiday each class made traditional mooncakes. Children, with the help of the teacher were able to form the dough and fill with the red bean paste.
Then they would use the stylish stamps to form the cake. With simple flavors, once the cakes were finished the children could enjoy tasting them. We had green tea, chocolate and coconut.
As the children were making the mooncakes the teachers talked to the children about the culture of the holiday. They learned about bountiful harvest, the large Autumn moon and the story of the rabbit that went to the moon. Some classes enjoyed a short cartoon video to help explain the stories.
The children very much enjoyed this activity and we hope that over their holiday at home they can share with their parents their new skills and be proud of the things they can make with their own hands.
