The origin of Halloween
Halloween is a western traditional festival which falls on November 1st, traced from the new year celebration day of the ancient Celtic calenda, marking the need to pay veneration to the gods and ancestors before a long winter of cold darkness and hardship.
As a festival full of mystery in western countries, Halloween celebration activities can help children to improve their confidence, to expand their imagination and to have so much fun from it. In order to let the children feel this special festival atmosphere and to get to know the western culture, Newton Bayside campus has carried out a series of Halloween themed festival activities. Teachers of Newton also dressed up in costumes to welcome the children!
Wonderful handicrafts
Newton teachers and children have took active part in decorating the campus to make the Halloween more interesting. The children made beautiful DIY handicrafts with their flexible little hands. After their elaborated decoration, Newton campus was filled with colorful festival elements.
Creative fashion show parade
Newton teachers encouraged parents and children to use waste materials to make costumes several days before. A special and wonderful Halloween fashion show parade was held on our campus, from which the spirit of green environmental protection was fully promoted.
Interesting games
On the day the teachers also prepared interesting Halloween theme games for our children, such as "magic circles", "ghost dance", "eye relay" “blowing away little monsters "... With the skillful hands and wisdom of Newton teachers, every class has become an amusement park, and the interesting Halloween games brought a lot of fun to our children!
Yummy Halloween food
Besides, the chefs of Newton have made delicious Halloween themed meals for children: cute ghost pumpkin cake, cheese and pumpkin baked rice, and yummy Halloween cake... Children have learnt the special festival culture and enjoyed the festival delicacy with a sense of ritual.
Halloween activities has been ended with children’s cheers and laughter. Instead of putting the spooky elements in the festival, we carried out the activities that can stimulate children's interests and can bring beautiful, positive energy to them. We hope that children can not only experience the culture of western festivals through games and food, but also can express themselves by the activities, from which promote their practical abilities, broaden their minds and give full play to their imagination as well.
Wish all the children had a magic Halloween! Happy Halloween!
