In Newton's educational philosophy of "Explore, Play, Learn, Grow", "Explore" is put in the first place, so let’s take children go out of campus and explore in a larger and wider social and natural classroom, which kicked off Newton’s 2023 autumn social practice activity!
The significance of children's social practice activities is to let children go out of the campus, get into the real natural and social environment, walk into the crowd, observe with their eyes, listen with their ears, touch with their hands, feel with their hearts, feel the surrounding environment and get in touch with different human beings, so as to exercise children's perception of nature and society, exercise their independent ability, the ability to cooperate and communicate with others and so on. Let children gain knowledge and accumulate life experience through practical exploration in a larger social and natural classroom, which requires personal experience and feelings.
K2—— A hiking trip for young artists
With the early morning sunshine, the K2 children of International Department started their first hiking trip in autumn.
“Are you ready?” “GO!” The children couldn't hold back their excited hearts for a long time, they were in neat uniforms and carried their small schoolbags and set off with laughter around.
Coming to Jinji Lake, nearly 1000 meter-walk, but the children have long forgotten the fatigue of walking, and have taken out their task cards and excitedly immersed them in task practice.
Task 1: Looking for
The first task on the list is to look for the landmark buildings and sculptures with unique shapes by Jinji Lake, and compete who can finish the task most quickly. When they ticked each task on the list, the children felt so confident and full of pride. Let’s press the shutter and take a photo with these buildings and sculptures!
Task 2: Imitation
"Look, the Oriental Gate is like this." Some children began to use their body to pose as the Oriental Gate. Under the guidance of the teacher, other children also began to try to imitate the movements of sculptures and the shapes of buildings with their own bodies or in cooperation with their friends.
Task 3: Sketch
After the imitation, the children have a clearer understanding of the structure of architecture and sculpture. The third task was for everyone to be a small artist, took out a painting book and recorded their favorite sculptures and buildings by Jinji Lake with a brush.
At the end of the task challenge, the children had a delicious autumn picnic to replenish their energy, and walked back to school. They ended this hiking trip with their perseverance successfully.
K1 N —— The Early Autumn Fun of Small Farm Lover
With the sound of cicadas singing, the Nursery and K1 children of International Department took the bus into the Peninsula Pastoral Farm and had a close contact with nature in autumn!
The children held hands and explored the farm crops in autumn, including all kinds of green leafy vegetables, purple eggplant and lentils, red peppers, sharp okra, yellow sunflowers, and tender pink grass... In this fruitful harvest season, the children evolved into small laborers and picked mature okra and eggplant, digging and digging, and digging out many big sweet potatoes. After picking, the sowing experience began. Let’s dig and sow with our heart, plant all kinds of vegetable seedlings, and expect the harvest next season.
The autumn crops are guarded by loyal scarecrows, our K1 children sit on the ground and made scarecrows by bundling and tying, and soon various little scarecrows are born.
The Nursery children found the lovely farm animals by listening their sounds and matched with the farm animal cards, they observed the characteristics of these small animals, and learned how animals walk and how animals made sounds.
The best education is practice, and the most beautiful experience is exploration. In this autumn, we took the children out of the campus, hone their will in hiking activities and enhance their artistic perception; we took the children walk into the farm, feel the beauty of autumn, get close to nature and improve their life experience. Every experience is growth, every exercise is wealth, and it is the best witness of children's growth.
