HUI XIN K2 MARATHON
As something new this year. The K2 classes will do random sports challenges and create opportunities for children to challenge themselves and their endurance.
The sports challenges are not competition based and it's not important to be the 1st or best, but it is encouraged to improve upon personal highscores and to reach one step further. If you are able to run 3 rounds around campus now, you might try for 4 rounds next time!
Reaching and striving for personal improvement is what education is all about and it is a very helpful and positive attitude to keep in life... perpetual growth.
On a more physical development related note. It is important to keep in mind that children are still developing their bodies and testing their physical abilities. To have sufficient confidence in control, they need to be challenged and push themselves a little, to find where their capabilities lies and limitations are.
Before the "Hui Xin Marathon" we all expected children to be, at their utmost, able to complete 3 full rounds around campus. However, much to our surprise we quickly found our own expectations to be far surpassed by the children's abilitites as they went for an average run of 6 rounds around campus and a max of 9 rounds. very impressive! and very educational for the teachers as well as we learned that children can do so much more than what we might think they are capable of! Well done everyone!
Mr. Paul take the children on a gentle safety run around the campus.
As always, it is important to warm-up before physical activities.
Teachers stand positioned around campus and several join the children to run.
And we are off on the run! following the red brick track around Hui Xin campus.
Impressive run by the girls, going for their 6th or 7th round. Mr. Paul trying to keep up.
Eventhough its not a competition of being 1st, a little sprint is still fun!
When tired, children can rest on the green grass while others push on.
