LETTER TO ALL NEW STUDENTS, REGARDING HEALTH CHECK
Dear new students and parents,
I am the campus nurse at Hui Xin and my name is Anna. I have been working here since we opened. Many of you know me already!
From this year, all newly registered students at Hui Xin campus is required to obtain a health check from Kowloon hospital.
Why get a health check? It is a recent requirement by the health/quarantine bureau, that all students attending kindergarten/elementary programs within Suzhou, must acquire a recognized health check in order to prevent transferrable diseases and as an effort to implement both provincial and country wide standards for monitoring children's health and wellbeing.
Why Kowloon hospital? because it is approved by the health and quarantine bureau to issue health checks to all kindergarten/elementary school students and it is conveniently close to Hui Xin campus (clinics such as parkway, singhealth and gentle care are unfortunately not approved. However the children's hospital in downtown is approved, should you wish acquire it from there independently).
I fully understand that many of our families and children have already passed initial health-checks to obtain visa's or residence permits to stay in China and might be hesitant towards further health checks. However, it is a requirement for all newly registered kindergarten students, commencing from August, 2015 that we as a Suzhou registered kindergarten must enforce the health check procedures of enrolment. I ask for your understanding and trust. We will assist you and your child to the best of our ability. Which is why we have arranged an exclusive check on March 24th 13:00 - 15:00 at Kowloon hospital, where you simply have to show-up at the information desk at the main entrance (south entrance) to the hospital, find the person holding a Newton sign and receive guidance in how to proceed to the health check area where I, Cindy will await you for further assistance.
Finally, I wish to prepare you. Even though Kowloon is a famous hospital in Suzhou, hospitals in China will be different than what you might experience at home and physicians lack the "personal time" that many expect from a family's health care provider. At a Chinese health check, you will receive the "health check form" which you have to bring to the stations that check for height/weight, vision/hearing, liver/heart/lungs, blood and basic dental check-up. After each station is completed the physician will give a remark or stamp on the form. Depending on the amount of children getting a health check at the same time as you, it could be completed fast or slow, but expect an average time of 1 hour to complete the checks.
On March 24th, I and Cindy from admissions will be there, on-hand to translate and assist you and your children do the health check from start to finish. Please inform your teacher's if you will pick-up students early from school or keep them home on the day (please arrive no later than 14:30 in order to complete all check)
Sincerely,
Anna Hu
