On January 19th, Newton Hui Xin campus celebrated the upcoming Chinese Spring Festival by hosting a Charity Drive.
The gates opened at 8:00 to the beating of drums and traditional lion and dragon dancers celebrating the festival season. At the entrance parents from PN 206, K1 107 and K2 402 a long with principal and vice-principal Mr. Anders & Ms. Tina welcomed guests and visitors to make a donation for the Charity Fund, which gather money every year to help children from the Suzhou orphanage or Children's hospital who are in urgent need of medical help.
We had more than 30 shops and vendors visit our festival and showcase their programmes and products. Starbucks, HABA and Parkway where here, while food stalls included traditional Xinjiang specialties, baked potatoes, cakes and goodies to name a few. Among all our supporters, we particular wish to thank one kind Suzhou lady who made sugar art for children, who prefer to remain anonymous, for making a very, very generous donation to the charity fund and really allowing us to help those who need help more. In total we were able to raise 51038 RMB, which is a campus record, one that will be very hard to beat next year.
On the stage, teachers Mr. Paul and Ms. Reese hosted the event and welcomed singers, drummers, dancers and the big annual K2 Spring Festival Performance to the stage. It was an amazing and fun day. While the temperature was very good, we did have a small drizzle of rain and not so good air. However, everyones smiles, enjoyment and kind hearts made the day a massive success.
Thank you for being such wonderful supporters and may you have the most blessed year of the Dog.
Sincerely,
