Dear parents,
Every year there is a day where we get to dress-up in costumes and pretend we are a super-hero, a witch, a monster or a princess. Halloween is an interesting day, that is hard to really define to a kindergartener, except as "Dress-up Day". Though ghosts, witches and one eyed pirates are rather hard to identify as good role-models. Halloween has always been the one day a year, where we get to be as different as we can possibly be and who says a monster can't be kind and sweet? It can at Newton.
This year management at the gate and bus arrival area caught 6 children arriving with "weapon like" accessories and confiscated them according to school policy. We do not believe that weapons, swords, guns, knives and the accompanied action of "pretend fighting & shooting" is good a model for acceptable social behavior. We want to educate and promote friendship values at all times.
The winner(s) of the most creative home-made costume goes to the children with the "Thomas The Train" and "White Skeleton Ghost" costumes. They were fun and awesome!
Have a great continued party at home!
Sincerely,
Newton Kindergarten
