Friday March 22nd, 2019 we wrapped up one of our beloved annual celebration activities, the Festival of Colors. The last two weeks classes have been learning about the cultures, countries, traditions and more of people all around the world. The first week of the festival teachers read stories, sang songs, practiced dances and games from a variety of countries. The children's favorite topics included learning about different birthday celebrations, hairstyles, flags and animals. In the second week of the festival we invited parents to participate by sharing about their own unique cultures or travel adventures. Children were proud to have their parents join in the kindergarten fun and we were excited to further embrace our multicultural Newton families. We believe this activity is very importance for young children. As an international kindergarten we encourage the children to be curious and open-minded about the world, and this discussion of diversity is a great start. We hope families can help their children explore the world through stories and activities and cultivate their desires for international knowledge. Thank you to all that were able to participate and we appreciate everyone's continued support!
