The regulations on the classification and management of urban household waste in Suzhou will be formally implemented on June 1,2020! We have shared methods of waste sorting in detail in Newton public accounts since April. For the past week, we have K2 children back at school and we have been carrying out waste sorting with them.

Mr. will from Biolan Horticulture Technology trains Newton teachers every semester on how to compost
The key of composting is to provide a suitable living environment for microorganisms, which can be achieved by a compost bin.
Why Make Compost
From the perspective of environmental protection, human beings, who produce tens of thousands of garbage in daily lives, bring great pressure on the environment and nature. Understanding how to make and use compost is in the public’s interest, as the problem of waste disposal climbs toward a crisis level. Compost is a sustainable way of living. It can make full use of food waste, organic waste, old soil and so on. It does not produce any waste, but produces high-quality fertilizer, which can be called "soil fragrance".
The benefits of compost to nature is obvious. Garbage or Resources? Making this distinction is important. Recycling and Reusing some kind of kitchen waste and organic waste, compost can realize the value of resources and benefit to nature.
The benefits of involving children to practice composting are more than that.
In the process of collecting all kinds of food waste, the Newton children have understood the difference of all kinds of waste. Which food waste can be put into the compost bin? Which can't? It is a deeper understanding of waste classification. Witnessing the process of the natural cycle, the children are eager to explore and thus gain the ability to understand and respect all nature.
The organic soil produced by the compost bin will be used by the children in the vegetable garden. The natural and pollution-free organic soil will help the vegetables absorb the most valuable nutrition. The children can finally have the organic vegetables they grow. This experience will make the children get closer to nature and understand it better.
Returning to the theme of environmental protection, compost is not the only focus. We should first reduce making garbage, and also do the waste sorting. If we try to finish our meals every time and reduce the waste as much as possible, the kitchen waste will also be reduced. When some kitchen waste cannot be avoided, we can resort to the ultimate method - composting.
At Newton, environmental protection is a habit to make compost change our lives.
