With 15 years of integration of Chinese and western education philosophy, Newton kindergarten adheres to the essence of education and devotes itself to the exploration of Newton curriculum, the curriculum penetrates into children's daily life, games, social communication, and the process of finding and solving problems. Game -Encourage children to play
Play is children’s nature. The healthy development of children's physiology, psychology and sociality depends on the quality of games. In the implementation of the curriculum, we have been following the concept of play-based learning, center on the children, adhering to the concept of connotation and refinement, and constantly updating and reforming, so as to meet the needs of children to obtain experience through direct perception, practical operation and personal experience, and promote the all-round development.
In the open air, we promote the comprehensive development of children's basic movements and sports ability, such as walking, running, jumping, climbing, balance, etc. through riding, rock climbing, football fields, blocks play, riding the train, sand and water play, castle slides, and plantation observation and planting. At the same time, they can get a pleasant mood in the process of enjoying various natural conditions, and enhance the understanding of the natural environment to cultivate children's healthy habit of outdoor activities.
In the room, independent play is the basic activity. According to the age characteristics, we reasonably formulate children's daily schedule, playing area, etc., combine the natural curriculum and art, and take advantage of every independent play time, so that children have the opportunity to choose freely, create independently, show themselves, and play in their own way. Every day, we share the joy of children’s growth and harvest from the classes and playing areas.
Nature-Bring children close to the nature
At Newton, we integrate the nature into the curriculum, making nature another classroom for children and another teacher for them. In the natural course, children are curious about everything, a leaf, a fruit, an insect, all become the resources that bring them infinite imagination and discovery.
In spring, we take the children to plant the seedlings in the garden, and observe the differences and similarities of the flowers. We use various plants to do the drawing, to make the paper and to dye the plants
In summer, the garden is full of fruits and vegetables. The fruits and vegetables harvested from the plantation are the best rewards for our spring sowing and hard caring, children make pizza and the vegetable juice with their partners.
In autumn, the campus is full of osmanthus, the orange on the trees, and the golden ginkgo leaves. Children and teachers are busy picking oranges and making creative paintings with Ginkgo leaves. The courses based on the autumn plants in the campus are enough for us to play in the whole autumn.
In winter, everything is withering. We go out of the campus and enter a broader ecological wetland park. Children pick up pine cones, branches, red fruits, and bring them back to the campus to decorate the upcoming Christmas.
Friend-Be friend with children
At Newton, we advocate friendship between teachers and children, equal dialogue, supportive advice, and partnership communication. Teachers are not only observers and guides, but also supporters and playmates of children. Teachers participate in various activities with children in the form of friends, play sand and water with children, build houses, discuss game and plans, exploration and experiment together. Under the partnership mode, children are more confident, dare to express, good at communication, and get more fun!
At Newton, when children make mistakes, teachers are not a simple accuser; when children encounter difficulties, teachers are not a simple commander; when children have problems, teachers are not a simple critic, they listen carefully and understand the process. In this process, we let the children judge, reflect and solve problems by themselves.
Life-Help children to gain living skills
Life is education, let children return to the natural environment, let education return to real life, help children develop good living habits, learn self-service, understand the basic knowledge of life, is the basis and starting point of all education.
On the basis of life education, combined with the characteristics of environmental protection, we have carried out nearly seven years of garbage classification education since 2012. Children begin with the knowledge of garbage classification, understand the different types of garbage, how to classify and sort out, and how to recycle. It began with parents being volunteers to participate in the recycling, now the daily recycling process is all completed by children themselves. Children graduated from Newton developed the habit of sorting, recycling.
Children are eager to do things like adults, and to change the surrounding environment with their own hands. When they have the opportunity to try and experience, and see that they can do it, the significance for their growth will be extraordinary, this is also the significance of the life education in Newton.
