the moon is brighter because of you, me, and love!
Mid-Autumn Festival is a holiday full of traditions over 1000 years old; it carries all the beauty of families getting together and is full of infinite charm. The children at Newton Bayside kindergarten celebrate this age-old holiday every year. On this day, teachers and children wear Hanfu, listen to the legend of Mid-Autumn Festival, and celebrate this festive holiday together. Newton's Mid-Autumn festival activities create special memories for all of our students!
Students felt the joy of Mid-Autumn Festival, experiencing their first holiday at Newton through the guidance of their teachers. They learned about the traditional customs of Mid-Autumn Festival by watching videos and listening to their teachers tell stories.
K1&K2 children actively participated in Mid-Autumn Festival activities by learning songs, sharing ancient mid-autumn poems, making crafts, and playing games with their friends.
Celebrate and Share
Moon cakes are always associated with Mid-Autumn Festival. There are endless types with different flavors, colors, and styles. We asked our students about mooncakes - "What kind of moon cakes have you eaten?", "How many different types of mooncakes are there in the world?", "What do mooncakes smell like?". Our older students were happy to make and eat mooncakes with their teachers!
First, teachers showed the children how to make mooncakes. You need just the right amount of dough to roll into a ball, flatten out, and wrapping it around your favorite filling, pressing it ever so gently around the edges. Once the filling is sealed inside, you put it in the mooncake press and push! Out comes a beautifully designed mooncake! After everything was ready, the children washed their hands and got to work making their own very special mooncakes! Each mooncake was unique and created in our students' little hands! They tasted their mooncakes, and their happiness was evident in the smiles on their faces!
The heartfelt festival activities grated the children an opportunity to experience the holiday in a happy and wholesome way. They actively participated in hands-on activities, explored boldly, and shared this joyful experience with their friends. We believe that in the process of making, sharing, and tasting mooncakes, the essence of traditional culture warms their hearts!
