We are feeling quite lucky with this sunny and mild weather for our Newton Sports Week. Tuesday and Wednesday were the games and events for the international section. Parents joined their child at school for a half day of fun, exercise and friendly competition. We are so happy to see that many families were able to have both parents join and even some grandparents. It is important that the children feel your support and they are always excited to show you the many things they can do.
The sports day started with a the parade of the classes. As parents gathered on the playground, students lined up with their teachers, dressed in their team colors, and practiced their marching.
Each class chose a team name and rehearsed actions to show their team spirit. We had so many different and funny teams such as the happy cats and the spooky spiders. After all the classes were presented they danced and sang along to the morning exercise with their parents. Good job parents for trying to keep up! After morning exercise it was time to let the games begin.
The theme of this year's sports day was Halloween in Autumn. The games incorporated halloween style and Autumn decorations. Each level played four games at the many different outdoor play areas our campus has. Some games were just for the kids and others the parents were able to join. We had pumpkin relays, witch hat ring tosses, and a big spider web crawling and building game.
We are happy that everyone enjoyed this event and we appreciate all the lovely teachers for their hard work in preparations and all families for their participation! It is great to see al the students getting stronger every year.
