In the west,
Halloween is festive and mysterious,
It's lively and full of magic
At Newton Bayside, our campus is flushed with signs of autumn; surrounded by nature and focusing on ecological education, our Halloween celebration reflects our eco-friendly philosophy. We encouraged the students to make Halloween costumes with their parents, incorporating their favorite fairytale and storybook characters. On this picturesque autumn day, the children transformed themselves into their favorite characters experienced a different Newton Halloween. Turning waste into treasure, they put on their costumes and entered a magical world of fairytales.
A Creative Stage
Newton's teachers, students, and parents collected and donated a variety of natural and recycled materials. Inspired by our student's whimsical ideas, our teachers spent more than 48 hours carving doors, windows, and ladders into over 200 donated boxes to create a giant flying house. This magical house that can fly without wings based on science fiction set the scene "The Adventures of the Flying House."
Every year our teachers and students work together to create Halloween masterpieces to decorate their classroom doors. Each door is unique and reflects the personalities of the class behind the door. The props from our Spooky Sports Week added a touch of color to our Halloween environment. The festive decorations and Halloween atmosphere created a rich and unique experience for our little friends.
Halloween Fashion
We designated October 29th, the last school day last week, as our "Halloween Celebration Day." On this day, all of our students and teachers came to school dressed up for Halloween. With the help of their parents, our students transformed themselves one by one. From fairytales, books, and cinema: a heroic Superman, an enchanted witch, a magical wizard, a charming captain, a brilliant Harry Potter, a light-hearted Snow White, a gallant Spiderman, a valiant Iron Man....... When the Halloween music sounded, the parade began. The children immersed themselves in this magical holiday with brilliant smiles across their faces.
Show Time!
When the Halloween music sounded, it was a signal that the fashion show was ready to start. The characters from our favorite fairytales and storybooks have come off the pages to make their debut! Let's take a look at Newton's cute little stars!
She's a brave and strong princess with stars in her eyes, ready to protect her family; he's a valiant knight who uses his strength to defend the safety of all humankind...... The children were in full character; on this magical day, anything is possible!
Our teachers at Newton also came to school dressed as their favorite book characters. Can you guess who they are? Who is this from "Peter Rabbit," "Little Red Riding Hood," "Alice in Wonderland," and "Harry Potter"?
Halloween Activities
What does a monster look like? Does it have one eye or three? Cute pumpkins, bats, and ghosts made by our imaginative students and their skillful hands.
DIY Snacks
Every holiday at Newton must be celebrated with traditional cuisine. Cute ghost cookies with big eyes, bat and spider cupcakes, and mini mummy pumpkin pies were the culinary
masterpieces made by both our pastry chef and our students. We used our imaginations to make these DIY Halloween treats.
Every holiday is a special occasion. Experiencing different holidays from around the world enhances our children's knowledge of and respect for other cultures. In our Halloween celebration, the students learned more about their favorite characters through roleplaying – an activity that teaches children about empathy and understanding of different perspectives.
