“ Brings warmth,
small acts of kindness and big love
To the end of the lunar new year.
During the cold of winter, embrace “you”
We welcomed in 2022 with our annual charity drive. Donating is one small act of love that brings people together and we continue this tradition every year. Children learn empathy and feel enlightened by these acts of kindness, which we hope will enlighten their everyday life.
Our “Give Back Box”丨7-day Campaig
On January 1st, 2022, at the beginning of the new year, we asked Newton’s friends and family members to participate in our “Give Back Box” Campaign. Needless to say, we had an overwhelming response from so many families. In just one week, donations of various sizes and shapes filled with love came pouring in. They had healthy snacks, pet food, warm blankets, animal clothes, books, toys, stationery and school supplies, every box containing love and kindness from a Newton family.
Handmade Charity Products丨bought with love
All of our crafts sold in our online charity sale were made by our teachers and students;keeping with our philosophy around environmental education and integrated with Chinese New Year elements, our charity sale crafts are so perfectly Newton. There are woodcut New Year prints for the Year of the Tiger,Children's handprint tiger bags blind boxes with the five symbols of "peace","auspiciousness","luck","fortune"and"prosperity"handmade wool felt tigers, coasters, magnets, terrariums, etc. all made with love. Our crafts were so popular; we sold out on the first day.
Donations from the heart and Charity Drive Activities
In order to help our students gain an appreciation for donating to those less fortunate during the epidemic, in addition to online fund-raising and charity sales, we gave them the opportunity to donate in person on campus. Every morning our students brought their pocket money and money from red packets and put their “love” into the donation box. What they put inside was not only their immeasurable care but also kindness for others.
On the last day of our charity drive, our teachers and students dressed in Chinese red and fully embraced the Chinese New Year atmosphere. Our K2 Students did dragon and lion dances. Our teachers and parent volunteers sold delicious snacks like cotton candy, sugar art lollipops, popcorn, roasted chestnuts, sweet Osmanthus rice porridge and the food blind boxes from the “Give Back Box” Campaign. The sights and smells made it feel as though we had transformed the area into a traditional New Year’s Market.
Our 2022 annual charity drive was a success! This year, the three programs we are supporting are the Suzhou Snow Lotus Foundation, the Suzhou Small Animal Protection Association, and the Yijayi Public Welfare Program. Charity asks that people have big hearts full of kindness, and for that our hearts are full. We are deeply touched by the children’s smiling faces who our donations will aid.
Newton’s Annual Charity Drive for 2022 raised a total of 40699.9 RMB. With the help of our students, parents and staff we collected 1276 toys, 381 books, 251 bags and cans of food, toys and supplies for animals,214 school supplies and 1628 articles of clothing.. Thank you again for your love, kindness, and support! We would like to also thank all of our parent volunteers who braved the cold for a good cause. May all of your donations help the children in LiangShan and GanNan Tibetan areas and the small animals of Suzhou keep warm in this cold but beautiful winter!
