What's the meaning behind Chinese New Year?
It's the drum sounds of Lion and Dragon Dances
And the flavor of sugar art lollipops.
It's the memory of eating dumplings
And the happiness of family reunions.
It's the childhood memories of playing traditional games
and listening to the story of the lunar year……
Eating dumplings in the lunar new year is a unique Chinese food culture, meaning festivity, happiness, and family reunion. Every year on the last day before the Spring Festival Holiday, our teachers and students come together to bid farewell to the old and welcome in the new semester with a unique celebration, "Dumpling Festival."
Chat the customs
At the end of winter, Dumpling Festival came with festive music, traditional Chinese clothing, and everyone's smiling faces ready to fully embrace the Chinese New Year!
When our teachers went to talk about Chinese New Year customs, they were surprised by how much the children already knew. When they started introducing the topic, they couldn't wait to hear the story of the Legend "Nian," the history of firecrackers, and new year's food... the teacher summarized and listed the New Year's customs one by one. The students also picked up a small broom and experienced the "dust removal" ceremony before the new year.
Enjoy the festive activity
We embraced Dumpling Festival with all kinds of traditional Chinese elements. The jubilant couplets and red lanterns were full of children's wishes and teachers' hopes.
Our classrooms, halls, and playground were full of children participating in traditional activities like printing tiger seals, writing "Fu" characters, playing throw pot games, making year of tiger crafts, and performing dragon dances. You could feel the festive spirit at every turn.
Each of our function rooms also had its own unique new year activities. Our students were fully immersed in various creations and celebratory activities; their creative artwork is one of the most beautiful ways they celebrated the New year.
Taste the Year Flavor
There was a lot of fun to be had making Chinese New Year dumplings! First, the teachers and students looked at pictures of various types of dumplings; there are so many different shapes, sizes, and colors! The students listened attentively as they learned how to make dumplings step by step.
Under their teachers' supervision and guidance, they picked up their dumpling wrappers, placed a bit of filling in the middle, and then carefully pinched the sides. The activity was a success with all of the dumpling goodness sealed inside!
As Dumpling Festival came to an end, so did the first semester. The spirit of Chinese New Year tradition was in the atmosphere. Wishing you and yours a happy holiday full of family togetherness and ever-lasting memories. Happy Lunar New Year!
A new year of hope, growth, and opportunity!
A new year of happiness and joy!
