This epidemic outbreak has quieted our bustling streets and busy lives... at the same time, it's united us, fighting together against the virus, racing against time, and combatting the epidemic together!
In the war against COVID, we've gazed upon many unknown but admirable faces and listened to the voices of countless volunteers and front-line workers. Our Newton faculty and staff have also taken up the fight with actions of our own. We're doing our part to bring a glimmer of light and contribute to help make Suzhou stronger.
A Warmth “Newton Lunch Bag”
After learning that the nucleic acid testers, epidemic prevention personnel, and volunteers' lunch is take-out, which can be unreliable and cold during this special period, we reached out to the Bayside Community to see how we could help. Under the organization of the Newton group, the management team of Bayside immediately held an emergency meeting and established a food supply team to actively provide warm and timely meal delivery services for the nucleic acid testing staff and volunteers in the Bayside community, as well as the community staff and police who work night and day to keep us safe.
Today there was another round of regional nucleic acid testing. Starting at 7 a.m., and after more than 3 hours of preparation, more than 160 warm meals were ready to go. Each one had a combination of meat and vegetables to ensure a well-balanced meal. At 11:30, coolers full of "Newton Meals of Love" were hand-delivered to each nucleic acid testing point and all of the volunteers and epidemic workers in the Bayside community. We hope that they were warmed by Newton's big heart and that our actions will inspire others to show their big hearts as we stand united in the fight against the epidemic!
A "Newton Box" full of love
The epidemic's severity has forced people to keep a safe distance, but in the hearts of our faculty and staff at Newton, no matter how far apart we are, we are still united. This sudden outbreak has left many of our teachers and staff at Newton in lockdown in their communities, feeling unprepared and vulnerable, impacting their physical and emotional well-being. Our management team at Newton organized personnel to purchase epidemic prevention supplies and daily necessities to create care packages to deliver to our Newton staff in lockdown. These "Newton Packages of Love" were left at the gates of their communities for our Newton staff who were need of warmth and care from the school.
Newton's love is so big that it's radiated to the community. We made "Newton Epidemic Prevention Love Bags" which included items like heating pads, ginger tea, Vitamin C effervescent tablets, hand sanitizer and other epidemic prevention materials to keep the hands and hearts of the volunteers and community epidemic prevention personnel warm and to show our gratitude for helping to keep us safe.
Newton volunteers like the warm sun
The world doesn't have real superheroes, but countless everyday heroes make the world a brighter place. Our unsung heroes at Newton actively volunteered to join in the fight against the epidemic and strengthen a united Suzhou.
Nurse Bella from our Huixin Campus is a professional medical worker who immediately volunteered when she heard that Suzhou was in need of volunteers for epidemic and prevention control. So far, many newton staff from both of our campuses have participated in the volunteer work in their communities. They are in the front line doing nucleic acid testing, working with community and medical staff to maintain on-site order, registering people for nucleic acid testing, and distributing nucleic acid testing cards. In several rounds of national nucleic acid testing, Newton's volunteers have been there every day, in the cold, night and day, with big hearts and smiling faces.
Our Newton teachers and staff volunteers warm our hearts and make the world brighter. We are incredibly proud of having a group of such selfless and loving colleagues!
Thank everyone for following the epidemic and prevention regulations.
Thank you for your kindness in helping each other,
Thank you to all the selfless anti-epidemic workers.
Newton is doing our part to fight the epidemic. We are waiting for a spring where everyone is safe, and the epidemic is gone.
