In those places far away from the city and our vision, a group of children lives in a way we cannot imagine. Most mountain schools in China's central and western regions don’t have libraries, and children are seriously short of books and magazines to read. Education, knowledge, and other resources abundant for urban children are scarce for those living on the mountain. For them, a book is a door to the colorful world outside.
To help the children living in the mountains have books to read and encourage urban children to be more altruistic, Ling Xin Tian (Newton Bayside) Kindergarten joined Suzhou YiJiaYi "10,000 books Sending to the Mountains" project. This program aims to establish a library for mountain schools in the central and western regions through book donations. These donated books will carry each child's heart and will be sent to children eager to read with knowledge, love, and warmth.
Love Initiative
On the eve of National Day, our kindergarten received an event invitation to the Suzhou YiJiaYi "10,000 Books Sending to the Mountains" project. We were delighted to join the initiative; we asked all Ling Xin Tian Kindergarten students and staff to donate their spare children’s books. Every idle book can be reread, making every book "alive" and giving it continued life.
Many a Little Makes a Mickle
Our kindergarten lobby became a moving scene in the morning on the last two donation days. The children came to the kindergarten with books in their hands and participated enthusiastically. They brought the books selected by themselves and their families and placed the books carefully according to size of the books. Some children donated more than a dozen books, and some of the books are even new books.
After children and employees’ donations, Newton teachers classified, sorted, and counted the books for the second time and finally collected 1162 books. These 1162 books gathered with love were handed over to Suzhou YiJiaYi Charity Organization at noon on September 30. The donated books will be sent to libraries in the western regions of China.
Love Drives Knowledge
During the book drive, the K2 students sent well wishes to the children living on the mountain under their teachers' guidance; they made loving cards and attached them to the books. These warm words conveyed good wishes, expressing their sincere wishes and love to the children far away.
We hope that the love of Newton's students, parents, and teachers can bring warmth to children in mountain schools and that small love can realize their grand dream. Let books open a window for them to see the world and light up their hope for knowledge.
Public welfare helps those in need; well-focused it can “move mountains” so that children in mountain areas can see the dawn of their dreams. Public welfare is a spark of action, illuminating children's dreams in western regions!
Ling Xin Tian Kindergarten has collected books, stationery, blankets, and numerous other items throughout its history for children in mountain areas through charity organizations such as YiJiaYi and XueLianHua. It’s heartwarming every time we see their happy faces and know we’ve helped to make their lives a little more comfortable. We believe these books, full of love and blessings, will open doors for these special children, conveying the heart of Ling Xin Tian’s teachers and children.
